Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Yeah, like the hot shots golf bundle did so much for the ps3.
Wii fit + Mario galaxy > all

Yes, because we all know that Wii Fit will be popular and revolutionary.

my PC > everything on every console combined.. Pocket Tanks, Half Life 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Crysis, Battlefield, Final Fantasy 11, Gears of War, emulators (w/ future Wii emulator) FTW!!!

Wow, you're having a tough night ssj12. I'd say cut your losses already but as fishyjoe pointed out it's somewhat funny.
I agree superchunck. The 3rd party support is somewhat weak in quality (though not in quantity) but that should change over the next couple holidays as many of those dev teams making the Bioshocks, Mass Effects, FFXIIIs, MGS4s, and possibly the Halos are moved to Wii development.

no shit... the Wii Fit seems idiotic at best... though it'll probably sell anyways... *sigh* @albionus, Halo 4 on the Wii? is that because it's numbers are so poor on the 360? (as far as i can tell, it's stomped the crap out of every game ever released) you can't possibly believe they'd actually do that. if you do then you're a mo......

Wii Sports sold because it's a launch game and a bundle.
Wii Play sold because it has a ton of minigames and a free Wii remote.
WiiFit has a bunch of boring looking fitness games and costs $80 for the balance board alone.
Nintendo needs to realize what works and what doesn't.
| superchunk said: "Last week I suggested the Wii was headed for bumpier roads, not because the system lacks games, but because it lacks as many first tier titles as either the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. By "first tier," I mean stuff that's on everyone's radar before it comes out, games that make news beyond the enthusiast press, titles or franchises that sells around a million copies pretty much out the door, e.g. Halo, BioShock, Guitar Hero, Gears of War, etc. You may be really, really into Rayman Raving Rabbids or MySims or Carnival Games or Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party, and that's cool, but those games are small change on the sales charts." I personally disagree with the authors logic. I think the Wii is following the same path as the PS1/2 and by end of next year will have pretty much all the exclusives by 3rd parties. While 360 and ps3 share everything else, and Wii getting ports of those as well. |
I don't see the Wii following the PS1/2's path with third parties at all (at least so far). I mean if the Wii was on the same path as the PS2 you would have gotten Soul Calibur 4 announced for it instead of Soul Calibur Legends, Resident Evil 4 which isn't an exclusive would have been announced for it, Grand Theft Auto 4 would be going to it, etc.
As for the Wii getting pretty much all the exclusives, I guess it's always going to get a lot of exclusives simply because of it's unique controller, and system specs (compared to the PS3 and 360) and because later in it's life the PS2 will have declined so much that there will be less and less multiplatform titles for it to share with the Wii. But that still doesn't mean it'll be getting the best exclusives or all of them, just look at the sales charts and it's obvious that on a Nintendo platform Nintendo's games are king and also that certain genres and games simply seem to sell better on other platforms. I'm sure there will be people who'll reply that I'm wrong or once the installed base on the Wii is bigger that will change but take a game like Madden, just how big would the Wii's installed base have to be until it would beat the 360s sales of it? I know Madden is a multiplatform title but there are other titles where developers may look at Madden and think the same thing.
Also exclusives aren't the end all either, look at Resident Evil 5, Grand Theft Auto 4, etc, those games may not be exclusive but they are definitely top tier games that are important to a system. Even if the PS3 and 360 do end up sharing many of those they are still significant titles to have and it's also what the original author is talking about.
