Forums - Sony - Why the PS3 has truely got a 100% failure rate. (no offense intended)

Actually HDDs are subject to failures due to various factors and so are other H/W components. So as Squillam meant no offense, it's true all Electronic components carry an eventual 100% failure tag. The time can vary upon nature of use, manufacturing defect or any other factors that induce wear and tear.

Actually, if you put 100 PS3s, 100 Wiis and 100 Xbox 360s in a time capsule for 100 years I can be 100% sure that 100% of the PS3s will not work.

The Xbox 360s and Wiis at least have a chance to be working...

if moisture where to some how seep in, then no console would work.

but you know, going with your crazy justifications I'll run with it my self.

If I grabbed a shot gun and shot each console, the PS3 would most likely be the one to actually work afterwards, of course it depends where you shot it, but taking that into acount one could say that the PS3 would most likely survive the assult 5 out of 10 times, while the others would fair much worse.

Don't be ridiculous. Teh C3LL is a time machine, so it can just travel 100 years into the future and be exactly like it was when you put it in.

The Cell will be perfect but the HDD is unworthy of the Cell and its bearings would have siezed within a few years of being inactive. Because the optical drive isn't as delicate, it actually might still work.

Teh C3LL would just repair the HDD!

You really don't know much about technology, do you? Don't make me get alephnull in here!

Mechanical parts need to be moving to wear down. If they're in a capsule with no power nothing'd be moving, hence no wearing down.

FYI, flash also fails eventually. It just typically takes longer than HDDs.

They also need to be moving to not sieze up! Oh and the 'bits/bytes' on the HDD also degrade with time as well.

Tease.

Of course you can go on ebay and buy a cheap hardrive for about the price of a competitor's yearly online fee or even for the price of their battery charger for the other console's wireless controller and magically fix your ps3 up again.

And that is impossible to do on the other system that its manufacturer wants you to pay $100.00 to fix if it manages to make it past a certain point in its lifetime (even though they know they built critical flaws into their machine to sell it on the cheap to gain marketshare) simply because you didn't use the competitor's console very much.

ps3's can switch hard drives lol fail

But even if you put a new HDD in, that one will also eventually fail.  They all will, that's Squilliam's point.  It's a joke thread, don't take it too seriously.

but it is a fail cause if you try starting a ps3 without an HDD it will still operate.

But everyone knows that most PS3 games need HDD to play. :)

The strongest player always has that 2 meters vent. Probably the hardest one to hit, but certainly possible.

Well, that's no bigger than a womp rat.

The domed thread was good, this one? Not so much.
