Of course you can go on ebay and buy a cheap hardrive for about the price of a competitor's yearly online fee or even for the price of their battery charger for the other console's wireless controller and magically fix your ps3 up again.
And that is impossible to do on the other system that its manufacturer wants you to pay $100.00 to fix if it manages to make it past a certain point in its lifetime (even though they know they built critical flaws into their machine to sell it on the cheap to gain marketshare) simply because you didn't use the competitor's console very much.
