Really?  I think 48k is actually pretty good.

Almost 600k in just 2 days likely means 700k+ for a normal 4 day launch period which basically doubles Monster Hunter 2 on the PS2.

So third party hardcore games do sell on the Wii. They just have to be of the high end variety ... not niche or smaller scale stuff.
Great sales for Capcom, 1 million sold LTD in Japan at least is pretty much assured now at least. 

I wonder if this could actually even start to shift some perceptions about online play at Nintendo itself -- there's never been an online-centric game this successful on a Nintendo console already.

Holy Hell at Wii sales!!

There was a lot going on for the Wii this week. A new iteration of a huge franchise (MH3), the release of a new peripheral (Classic Controller Pro), a HW bundle including MH3, and a new color for the Wii.

But I didn't think it was going to be enough to do such numbers, I'm truly amazed. Let's hope this boost disappears gradually rather than abruptly. We know new core games draw in more players than casual games in Japan, because IMO the casual market there is oversaturated. Wii needed a game like this to come to life again. Maybe now the bigger core fanbase will be eager to buy core games like the ones no one cared for before this game released.

So million seller confirmed? I would say yes.

Wii should hold fairly well next week I think. You have three games which will be over 20k - MH3, WSR, and SD Gundam G Generation, and demand for the new color won't be over after only two days. Nintendo and Capcom probably made a ton of those MH3 + Controllers bundles and they were largely sold out day one and day two. So I think Wii should be over 50k again, and I could see it as high as 75k or 80k again. But we'll have to see.

SD Gundam G's impact will be minimized a lot due to the fact that there's a PS2 version of the game being released simultaneously, which will instantly kill all the Wii sales.

At least that's what has happened so far with all PS2/Wii multiplat games.

But the hardcores now own a Wii!

FFXIII will 1 million first week with ease and AGAIN MH3 is not a PSP game therefore will not have close to the legs of the PSP versions. I'm shocked people even consider MH3 selling anywhere close to FFXIII. Ah well as always when the numbers release I am correct and it will not be any different this time.

Also yeah I like the portable MH games. Clap fucking clap for all of those whom figured that out, I shall buy you all a cookie one day!

Not every hardcore MH gamer loves Gundam.
Most Gundam lovers have PS2.
