I was bored shitless of the first game a few hours in, the story was ok but the gameplay was dull dull dull.
Skip.

Unless you can get it for $20 or less, don't get it. Huge waste of repetitive time.
dont buy this OVERhyped game
and wait for reviewer to buy AC2
Time to Work !
Assassin's Creed is the biggest new franchise in this generation.
The first game had minor flaws but was an epic game which sold 8 million copies. I recommend to check it out now, before you get completely hooked by the sequel this Fall.
Assassin's Creed II will compete for GOTY 2009 and is at this point the biggest favorite to win.
It will sell 10 million copies on PS360 alone.

its not about sales. the game isn't fun , its boring, its by ubisoft , they didn't do any good game this gen all boring crap with good graphics.
if it gets GOTY then that proves that the reviewers are stupid and should just be ignored.

The favourites for GOTY 2009 are Uncharted 2 and Scribblenauts, actually.
Well i was looking forward to playing AC, especially since i love history and Crusades are one of the most fascinating periods in Medieval Era.
But the game itself is kinda boring, its so repetitive it all goes around traveling to the city, going to the tower, doing few stupid side missions,( i mean Assassin collecting flags ?!) to get some intel. Contacting the office and killing the target (in a kinda this same manner)
I've played it on a PC before and tried it on Xbox 360 recently it is just boring. It had tons of potential but it just did not deliver in the slightest. Missions are too linear, side quests are this same everywhere, plus there is not a lot of ways to assassinate targets.
Assasins Creed is probably the most overrated game this generation. If Ubisoft fixes those problems in AC II it can be one of the best games, and one of my favourites.
You want a Assasination game, buy a Hitman game.
You want a good Ubisoft game? Buy a Prince of Persia is made by the same studio its an excellent platformer.
But if you still want to give it a shot, pick it up its cheap now! You will enjoy first 2 missions later it will be a struggle.
Don't buy it. It's not worth spending your time

Ubisoft rules man, right after Bethesda. It's kinda boring at times, but it's still epic.
How can you protest against AC II getting GOTY when you haven't even played it? It's going to be improved on everything that was a bit flawed with the original.

Uncharted 2 is an extremely strong contender yes. But I believe both games will get between 90-92%, and Assassin'c Creed II being multiplatform will earn it the reward.
A 10 million seller will get favored over a 2.5 million seller.
Scribblanuts will definately not win GOTY 2009. It will be highly praised but the catogories it will take are more like 'biggest surprise 2009'.
