What about GB Xbox 360 vs Wii
1. Not niche
2. Known I.P
3. Pretty awesome content
Xbox 360: 0.26
Wii: 0.14
So the attach rate for this title is closer to 3* that for the Wii.
Tease.

A person who has a good experience with a product will recommend it to 3 people. A person who has a bad experience with a product will tell 10 people not to purchase it.
MadWorld and The Conduit were both new IP's, both were short and have a look at their covers if you don't think they look niche. I can't see how anybody would look at The Conduit's cover and think it was high quality.. |
That's why I love my Gamestop Special Edition version so I don't have to look at that cover...
Former something....

If the Conduit had been on any other system, it would've been ignored. This was a chance for Wii gamers who are fans of FPS to come out of hiding and enjoy a truly thoughtful shooter. Heres to hoping it sells well LTD. I guess what you would call a niche title, is only a niche title on the Wii. Team Ico games used to be considered Niche titles on the PS2, but their quality was finally seen once word of mouth went out. I find your studies to be interesting. I am a salesman. In practice it depends on the scenario, but wat you're saying could happen.

Kinda like how lifestyle/exercise games or platformers are only called niche titles on the HD consoles?
Wii is a different market to the HD systems. They are both just about equal in terms of install base but one has a greater online presence than the other. They are both as important as each other. That said, Call of Duty: World at War sold over a million copies, Red Steel sold over a million copies, Call of Duty 3 sold of a million copies and then you can look at the rail shooters with House of the Dead 2 & 3 selling over a million, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles selling over a million.. As did Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime 3..
I don't think the shooter genre is a niche market on Wii but the titles that have released in that genre have been either niche in themselves, lower quality than on competing systems or simply remakes.
Finally I think if we are ever going to see a hugely popular shooter on Wii, it'll have to focus on Wii Sports as it's main competition/inspiration and not other shooters from the HD market, a market with different values from that of the Wii market.
The one reason that's always ignored is the type of gammer. 18 to 24 year olds is the biggest ps360 owners. These are peoplethat are still living with at with no bills so they can afford an expensive console and a lot of games.
"Of course, the problem could be in Kaigler's statement that, "I’ve played both. I’m not a core gamer, and I found that they were challenging and fun." (Our bolding).
Still, Nintendo's keeping its fingers crossed. "But it’s our hope that the games will pick up in popularity and they’ll continue to sell". So... Ninty's hoping for the best. That's encouraging for the hardcore..."
They won't sell because Wii users won't buy them.ITS SO SIMPLE.
Take my love, take my land..

On a side note, I spoke to a friend of mine today and he said that he was asked by a friend if he wanted to buy a 360 with five games, because he bought an updated version. He turned down a $200.00 offer, because he said he would play too much. He's trying to cut back on gaming and thats why he has the Wii. Good games come in from time to time instead of in a flood like the other systems. I was quite shocked to hear this, because he has one of the largest purchased PS2 collections of anyone I know. He basically sticks with the PS2 and the Wii. We end up playing the PS2 over the Wii, but when we have chicks over we play the Wii like crazy. He only plays the 360 and PS3 at my house and he said he's fine with that, but he wants to cut back on gaming. He's like 5 years older than me, so I understand his point...but am baffled at the same time. Any thoughts? |
Well.. I'm the same as your friend.. i'm about his age and I just don't have the time to play anymore and I really don't care about it...
I got other things to do.. My Job as a graphic designer, my part time Job as a teacher, my GF, my friends, my family, paying bills... It just happens..
I still buy games but they only pile up... when I was 20 I gamed a lot, it seemed important back then but now.. meh.. it's way at the bottom of important things to do in life...

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)
I think a lot of it has to do with these so-called "hardcore" titles being inherently unappealing. The type of games often listed as "hardcore", like madworld, are about steroid pumped ugly people who run around committing violent acts and scream with aggression; this is the dream game of a PC gaming nerd who is constantly high on caffeine, eats lots of pizza and fastfood, and likes to randomly yell out "uber!" while listening to music that they also refer to as hardcore; hardly what describes a Nintendo system owner - in fact, those types have always hated Nintendo.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
