Not a lot of cyclist fans here btw :(
My favorite sport xD
Especially the tour de France.
Sir Donald Bradman, Aussie cricketer who had a career average of 99.94 runs. Which is still by far the best in the world.
He's my pick, fantastic sportsman.

Meh, he's not even close to the best basketball player ever.
Pele is my choice as well, although Jim Thorpe is an excellent one.

MJ was great, but Dr J was better.
And the most dominating basket ball player of all time, was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kareem_Abdul-Jabbar
To give you an idea of just how good he was, in 1966 he was a freshman at UCLA. Back then, Freshmen could not play on the varsity team, so he played on the freshman team. The varsity UCLA team was the #1 ranked team in the country. The freshman team played the the varsity team, and the freshmen won 75-60, and Kareem scored 51 points in that game.
Then, when he was allowed to play on the varsity team for the next three years, they went 88-2, and won the national championship all three years.
He didn't do to bad in the NBA either ;p
"Abdul-Jabbar played the center position and is regarded as one of the best players of all time. He is the all-time leading NBA scorer with 38,387 points, having collected six titles, six regular season MVP and two Finals MVP awards, fifteen NBA First or Second Teams, a record nineteen NBA All-Star call-ups and averaging 24.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.6 blocks per game. He is also the third all-time in registered blocks (3,189), which is even more impressive because this stat had not been recorded until the fourth year of his career (1974)."
