Forums - Microsoft - JRPG'S sales figures as of right now

Not horrible given most of them are new IP's but not fantastic either.

wow those aren't very good numbers

Pull up PS2 numbers that exclude the top tier JRPGS(FF, KH, DQ, ect) and you will see a similar pattern. Almost all of the JRPGs on the 360 are new IPs. I think those numbers are pretty good for new IPs.

I agree while most of the new IPs seem to be selling, at the very least adequate, the ones that are not new IPs, SO4 and ToV (compare to either ToA, ToD2 ToR - with the last two only available in Japan), have sold much less than their PS2 counterparts.

SO4 was hurt by mixed reviews and ToV was hurt by poor marketing.

SO still has time to sell. It hasn't even been out a year yet. For the console they are on, those number don't look so bad as everyone else makes them out to be.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

star ocean only has been out a few months, could be over 800k or so when its year comes up.

You must consider that the lower sales of those RPGs are due to lack of advertisement which was not a problem for Star Ocean 4, Lost Odyssey, The Last Remnant, etc.

Point taken with SO4, but it's still considerably less than its predecessor. Even when considering it's only a few months into its sales - jRPGs aren't know for their legs.

As for ToV; I'm sure there wasn't much more in terms of marketing for ToA, ToD2 and ToR

And i would say that outside of Japan most of those JRPGs did as well as their PS2 counterparts.

The later two Tales games never got released in the West.  Also, I am only talking about the West.  In Japan, Tales games are marketed very well.
