Well i bought an unproven title recently, being inFamous, and it turned out to be one of the most fun games i have played this generation so far!
I think it is a risk that is taken when it comes to buying these games day one, but it can be worth it

Well that's a 1st party game. People get excited for much lower quality games, like The Conduit. |
Yeah, i guess but it is still an unproven game... Then again Sony's internal studios have a habit of making amazing games so i guess it wasn't truly 'unproven' lol

I don't, and I don't know why people would not do their research before buying games, its not like they are incredibly cheap

Said the man who bought a 2D action game from a no-name developer with no reviews
If the pre-release coverage is good, you can see what a game is like from that, but just walking into a store and saying "Hmmm, I'll buy that" is something I don't do. I used to, but not anymore. Mainly when the game I wanted was out of stock.
Well, depends on what you mean by unproven, could you provide an example?
Uncharted was unproven when this gen. began. I bought the game on the first day simply because I had played the demo a week earlier and knew it would be massive. The same applies for Lost Odyssey. It was a new, unproven, IP. However, simply looking at screen shots, reading about it, and knowing that it was made by Mistwalker was enough to warrant the first day buy.

I don't think I have been disappointed by any of my PSN games at all, I trust Sony to deliver quality, and they do 90% of the time. Anyway, there was fantastic coverage in previews, there was no doubt it was going to be a good game, and it is!
