Forums - Nintendo - Why do so few care about Little King's Story?

I just picked this up today at GameStop, and jokingly asked the guy working if I was one of five to pick it up. He said that they originally only ordered four, and sold them out and had to re-order. Now granted, I don't live in a huge city or anything, but only 4+?? Wow...

That's standard practice for GameStop.  They only buy around 3-8 copies of a game for each store if they think is a 'weak' release.  And what they deem is a weak release is something that isn't marketed highly.  AKA, something on the level of Pokemon or GTA.  This is why you'll see 100 copies of a new Pokemon game upon release, but never be able to find a copy of a DS Dragon Quest game when its released.  They only buy more copies of 'low end' games AFTER they sell out.

Actual, GameStop's orders are based on pre-order numbers. Each store gets gets enough copies of a game to cover 2.5x the number of pre-orders (thoguh only 1.5x for bigger games like Madden, where we know we'll get plenty). For example, if we have 6 pre-orders of a game, we'll get 15 copies. If there are no pre-orders, the store may receive anywhere from 1-4.

We had two pre-orders for he game at my store, and got 5 copies of the game. Same happened with Valkyria Chronicles last year.

At first i was all for this game but they said that it had no IR and motion controls so that stop me. After playing Pikmin I can't go back.

At first, the lack of IR may seem a failure, but believe me, the game's controls are just fine the way they are: you really have to try by yourself, and you'll then know it's too good to be missed, IR or not...

Plus, the camera works just great, it's a real pleasure to use... on the other hand, in Pikmin 2, yes, the IR mechanic is fine, even excellent... but i just can't understand why nobody mentions the camera: i think it's very poorly designed, and it ruins the game for me... played it for a few hours, while i've played Little King's Story for nearly 40 hours now...

Little King's Story is by far a superior game if you're into Pikmin, in fact, it's even one of the best i've ever played... so give it a chance...

The prosecution rests. The failure of this game is mostly to immature fratboys who've yet to outgrow outgrowing Nintendo.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

Like this:

Cartoons, comics and even movies can do this kind of stuff, seems like videogames is a really young media that've problems to accept different artstyles.

If you look at slash's games collection he owns Zack and Wiki and Zelda Phantom Hourglass. I guess an art style aimed at 10 year olds is okay with him but not one that's aimed at 5 year olds.

I've put 15 hours into the game now and I can say it's probably in my top 10 games of all time.

This game doesn't appeal to me because I've actually read a lot about it and nothing has excited me. I really don't like threads like this, because they tend to become fans of a game like this bashing people who don't like it. Because I like realistic graphics I am a casual gamer now? I have no taste? I shouldn't enjoy Gears of War because it's not deceptively good? That's what I always get out of these threads. (For the record, I own a DS and am currently LOVING LOZ:Phantom Hourglass)
