Forums - Gaming - Who has faith Konami is going to deliver a great 3-D Castlevania next year?

Not a chance. There's a reason the 3-D Castlevanias have always flopped even as the 2-D ones have continued to flourish, and it's not about the graphics. You'd think Konami would have learned its lesson by now.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

Its pretty hillarious when you think of it...

3D castlevanias have sucked becuase they didn't capture that essential gameplay that 2D ones have no problem recreting. Yet what does Konami do for the next installment? Hire lots of brand name actors and Hideo Kojima + bad 3rd party dev studio...lol

For christs sake, if the game sucks they need to sell that franchise to another company cause they have no clue what they are doing. SOTN has some of the most cheesy and badly written voice acting ever...yet the game is always brought up as one of the best games ever made. Why do they think that gamers would care if Patrick Stewart is doing the voice in the cutscenes?

Probably because he is not some kid they picked up on the streets.  SOTN's voice acting was the so bad its good variety.  But having genueinly good VA is even better.

Patrick Stewart voice acting = awesomesauce, regardless.

I just wish that Konami could do a really great 2d console "Metroidvania" game which is where we all know the franchise shines. Instead they insist on making 3d ones which flop. Sigh

it all depends on how their upcoming triple-A project Walk It Out work out - but again this triple-A stands for Anal so i dunno what kind of triple-A Castlevania will use.

I agree. I couldn't care less if a big name actor was voicing scenes in a game. The game needs to be good.

I do hope that they will try a DMC/NG/GoW aproach to the genre... thats the only way they can ressurrect that IP to ecome mainstream again, especially seeing that 3D beate'em-ups became lately pretty popular :D

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

im excited about Kojima being with the game, it looks awesome.
and also i didn't play a 3D castlevania that i liked, but im sure this one is win.

If Lord of Shadows comes out really good, I can see the game selling really well.
