And you got jaggies because your HDTV doesn't have a good upscale engine. In my 42' TV only the WII ***** (Sports, Music, Fit) have jaggies. None other (I tried).

That is just bullshit. I have a good LCD-screen and the only thing which looks bad on it as 480p is the wii. 360/PC does not have that kind of jaggies on 480p setting. Galaxy, conduit and even wii sports has terrible jaggies.

It's not about the screen, it's the TV hardware that upscales the signal.

Oh gee, I did not know that?! Do you think that I refer to LCD-panel with "screen"? Of course I was talking about my tv which includes the f*ing scaler.

If you are getting bad jaggies on a 32 inch screen then i'd suggest that your TV"s scaler isn't that good. On my 34 inch HD CRT (no scaling needed) jaggies are barely evident and even then only in a few games. On my brother's relatively cheap 37 inch LCD the jaggies are definitely worse but still not that bad unless you are sitting on top of the TV. On my mate's 46 inch Bravia they jaggies are significantly less obvious than on the 37 inch LCD and the image is almost as good as on the CRT, amazing given the larger screen size. I've also seen the Wii on several other large TV's of various brands and it ranges from excellent to horrible.

Scaling is really important and in the end 480p can still look really good on the right TV.

But did you try comparing with a 480p native screen? That's the only way to know if your TV upscaling is the problem, or if you simply don't like Wii's graphics.

480p native screen? Is there that kind of screens? Yes, the wii graphics is the issue here. I can't stand those jaggies at all.

Yes. Any ED/HD CRT can display 480p natively, and there are 480p LCDs too (though those are more rare).

Did you play games before this gen? Could you stand the graphics then?

Manos, Samsung have an awful upscale quality. It has a good screen, bright collors (that many love, I don't like), but the upscale engine is painful.

The best upscale quality I saw was PHillips (9000 series) and Sharp Aquos. If you have any doubts, just grab your Wii and go to a electronic store (with a component cable, of course) and try it. That was how I choose my TV.

This thread makes me long for the days when the only decision you had to make about a TV was how big you wanted it to be.

I'll probably be looking into getting a HDTV soon. How do you know if it has a good upscaler?

Uhm... are people still just finding out that the Wii isn't that graphically capable?

Well I use an SD TV and get no jaggies at all in The Conduit (or any other Wii game) It's not a problem with the Wii graphics itself, but with the integration between the Wii and the TV.

Play around with the settings of both the TV and the Wii (particularly try changing the Wii to 480i or 576i if possible) and you should be able to make it look better.

Yeah, that's the reason I went with a HD CRT instead of a LCD.

Take your Wii to a friend's house, or to the TV shop if they let you try their TVs with it. That's the only way to be sure. As Dazkarieh said, make sure to use component cables to connect them.
