It's a meltdown. What can ya say?

If you remember, what people were saying at the previous "price cut" was NOT that there was no price cut. What people (at least reasonable people) were saying was that the PS3 as a console hadn't suffered a price cut, just a hardware upgrade. The 60 GB model, however, obviously suffered a price cut at that time.

This time, both the PS3 AND the PS3 60 GB European model suffered a price cut... So I don't think you'll see many people complaining. I certainly won't complain.

And to show that, at that time, it was a reasonable argument, you just have to imagine a series of measures by Sony in which they change the SKUs to 60GB/80GB, 80/100, 100/120 but never changing the prices (i.e. always 499/599) for example. Would you say that there were three price cuts there? It's just stupid. So stop crying wolf about people's reaction to that particular measure from Sony from a few months ago.

You can't criticize people for having common sense and for being able to use logic, unless you're the most rabid fanboy... in which case, as we all know, "the sky is the limit"...

Obviously you do care what people think, or you wouldn't get so worked up about it.

But you know what?  I don't want Sony to fail.  I want them to stop making themselves fail.  The better product that Sony can make, the more interested I will be in buying it.  That's the entire concept of competition in a free market.  I don't want Sony to fail, I want them to understand why their strategy is failing and make a better product next time.

The people who poked fun at the SIXAXIS for having no rumble said exactly the same thing both before and after the rumble announcement.  Sony's "rumble is last generation" and "rumble interferes with motion sensing" excuses were a bullshit coverup for their lawsuit with Immersion.  Everyone knew it then, and Sony confirmed it for us when the lawsuit was been settled and suddenly we had SIXAXIS controllers with rumble.  There is no hypocrisy nor self-contradiction in calling a spade a spade twice.

If you people would actually engage in conversation, you'd contribute so much more to this community than simply trying to discredit anyone who prefers another console.

 I think your mixing up your analogies.  We're talking about the PS3, right?  Not the PS3 and the PS2?

The true analogy would be to say that Ford released the Explorer XLT+, with every bell and whistle known to man.  Then it did sell.  So THEN they released the Explorer XL with a lower price, followed up by the Explorer L anda  rock bottom price.  The "L" did away with navigation, and DVD player, no leather, no Satelite radio, no automatic transmission.  They are all Explorers, and each subsequent released was a cost cutting measure to move product.  I see no difference between than and a standard price drop.

It would be interesting to see what happens if Sony really did bomb the Christmas.   Do you disagree that there is a point at which they reassess?  Would they abandon the whole market ala Sega, or would they release a "3.5" with a $250 price point.  PS3 blue ray wouldn't work, but it would accept the same code or some such via DVD.

I don't think they will bomb.  I don't think they are going to do well, but they will do well enough the inch along.

I assume You've read nothing of this thread or anything else that is going on in this forum so allow me to clarify. 

jjseth was banned for insesantly bringing up the issue of, and calling people, Ninty and MS Fanboys. Blatantly calling another member a "moron" with a large imbedded image (yes that is against the rules here). And equating Mario to hitler and Nintendo to Nazi-sim with a series of edited photos in a completely unrelated thread. 

You aren't supposed to call other people "morons" with a large embedded image? What has this world come to??

I've been a lurker for quite a while here, but it seems that you cannot say anything bad about Nintendo lovers here or you will face the wrath of the moderators.

Attacks on community members are tolerated less than attacks on Nintendo, Sony, or MS, as they should be.
