the 360 can "handle" killzone 2 as well.

The only reason, i gaurentee, that sony can claim "only possible on PS3" is because its on a BD, and obviously you cant play those in the 360. Seriously. Gears of war and SCV show its a moot point.

"business decision" on the other hand to me means MSFT paid something for this, obviously. Its business. It sucks for us PS3 owners, but anybody who thinks The game would net a loss on the PS3 because of dev costs is naive.

KZ2 uses lighting techniques that cater very well to the PS3's strengths, and have been shown to perform very poorly on the 360, thanks to the way the (usually very fast) GPU caches framebuffer data.

So... KZ2, the gameplay, might be possible on the 360... but it wouldn't look anything like KZ2 on the PS3.  It'd have to be rewritten to utilize the 360's strengths -- would that make it the "same" game?

It probably wouldn't be the same game in terms of how the hardware does something or what not (not a computer geek) but everything would probably play out the same way.

exactly. Just because you have something that you use route A to get to doesnt mean theres no route B. And thats the point. final product. If Procrastinato wants to compare things like that, no Wi game is "possible" on the 360 and No DS game is possible on the Wi, since the wii isnt portable.

You can use different skills and strategies to accomplish the same tasks, even making a videogame.

uh, have people ever said it can't be done on the PS3? I really wonder what kind of morons would say that, it's like if something is not multiplat these days that stupid people go ape shit like idiots, but the better informed ones know better of course.

Was it ever thought that PS3 could not handle it?

That's what I was wondering, PS3 has a bit more power than 360 anyways so how could it not handle Conviction?

Well you put the disc in, and it doesn't work! Therefore the PS3 cannot handle Conviction as it is now. It'll have to be changed or adjusted in some way to allow the PS3 to play it. But will it still be Conviction after those changes or something else entirely? Only time will tell!

So the 360 developers WERE lying, which means YOU were lying, but you're in New Zealand, so that means you were telling the truth!

That means it IS coming to PS3! Hooray!

i highly doubt m$ would let this game ever grace the ps3, since it always has been known as a 360 game. either way, splinter cell games always sell alot better on a xbox system.

Never will happen.

whats funny about that article is that this kinda stuff never works for Sony, like with FF13.

Well then, Splinter Cell Conviction timed exclusive confirmed!!!

We'll see a port to the PS3 exactly 1 year after the 360 version gets released if not.

And this thread is here because.......
Has anyone ever questioned that? Any game from any side PS3 or 360 can be done on the other platform with all the same graphics and stuff. Anyone thinking different needs their heads checked.

WTF. STFU. It's proven that the 360 is capable of DirectX 10 lighting effects. Certain lighting effects that aren't available on the PS3.

Alan Wake has the best lighting Ive ever witnessed. It's much more gradual than KZ2, it's mistyness in the woods for example is majorly unsurpassed.

Probably.. but with better controls...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

OP point is rather obvious and no one has ever said the PS3 can't handle Splinter Cell... what this prove is another no brainer that some people actually objects to!

I've stated many time before that people who think all these third party (big) exclusives (ToV, Star Ocean etc) are without incentive from MS/Sony are either delusional or talking shit. Money is the root of it all and MS with more money and less internal studio to sink that money into is doing what it needs to keep the fans the happy and 360 competitive. What else are they gonna do?

There is a certain amount of negativity attached to the concept of 'bought' exclusivity which was absent during the PS1-2 era when Sony was doing it left right and center. A large part of this is fanboy bitching but I believe there is also a certain amount of hurt feeling from the Sony fans who were too young to have felt the stings of betrayal when publisher abandoned Nintendo/Sega (Square buddy here's to you!) for the richer pasture of Sony. Another factor was that many of these exclusives don't stay as such, a year later they hop on to the PS3/PC ala Gears, Tales etc, often time with more features which makes a minority of multiplatform owner annoyed and a plethora of fanboys even more annoyed.

In any case, I like a forthright fella, and our man is probably under contractual obligation to not discuss monetary issues... it is at least more straightforward than the garbage they spew out earlier about brand affiliation blah blah blah....

Nice to see such straight talking - with Carmack's recent comments you'd almost think the PR mist had cleared to allow mature adults to comment.

I hope it's a good title, as I liked the first few but felt they lost their way more recently. If it reviews well I'll probably pick it up on PC.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
