Forums - Sony - Tale of Vesperia PS3 has inferior graphic

Guys please note the below:

This results in a somewhat uneven form of scaling for PS3 owners, compounded by the anti-aliasing solution chosen: quincunx, which combined with the lower resolution adds a somewhat obvious, and unwelcome, blur to the game

What EUgamer is saying is that the lower resolution result in a more 'blur' effect than the already slightly blurred 360 version which detracts from the overall image quality, the game shouldn't be significantly inferior, but there should be a noticeable (if slight) difference.

This should NOT be a big negative to most end consumer, especially if you have only the PS3; the game is still just as enjoyable and has been enhanced with additional features.

If however this end up being the resolution used in the final built, you should certainly be critical of Namco for their rather lackluster effort, this game in no way pushes the boundary of the PS3 and considering they've already ported an excellent Eternal Sonata over (which had better cell shading graphic!) this is somewhat of a black mark.

Look at this from the point of a critical consumer who should demand the best because -dammit- you deserve it. The product can suffice but don't let Namco feel that this is a action that can be tolerated as a long term business practice.

What?  Putting basically the same graphics in the PS3 and 360 version but a ton more content in the PS3 version?

No for not getting a game up to the standard they have already established (graphically) from a previous game. Eternal Sonata did not suffer this fate and that game had far better cell shading than ToV. I'd expect the standard to be raised or at the very least kept, not lowered over time.

I won't be getting this game at all now, not getting for 360 just because the lulz, and now not getting it for PS3 because it looks shit.

Tales of Vesperia is just another average JRPG game which are a dime to the dozen. MS must have paid some good $$$ to have timed exclusivity for ToV. The only JRPG series that matters is Final Fantasy series. The best version of Final Fantasy XIII will be on PS3. Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy XVI both remain exclusive to the PS3.

Yeah you know nothing about this game,TOV was one of the best RPG's of last year..I bet your one of those guys the only RPG's you've played are FF,Your pretty bad at trolling Bringing up FF for no reason..You must be new at trolling or something And yeah FFXIV is on the PC also,FFXIII 360 looks the same as the PS3 version check the E3 demo that MS had showing.Try again

Tales games are hardly technical marvels, I don't know why they would pick this of all games to try and make a comparison.

Outlawauron, you're not gonna protest against "ToV is the best jrpg this generation by a mile, and it's even better than the excellent PS3 exclusive, Valkyria." this line? :D

The PS3 version sure looks more blurry.

Oh, thats mainly because of quincunx AA. Lots of PS3 games use it because you cannot do better on PS3.

See this thread ->

http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=55284

It blurs stuff nicely and of course resolution matters too.

u can but require some use of the cell, thats implementation one.

in that way you could not only do MSAAx2 but HDR FP 16 like uncharted 1 - 2 or heavenly sword.

You didn't read that thread, did you? Anyway, MSAA is very easy to do just about on any platform. However some platforms can't really handle it real time. :)

(You really can't use cell for graphics stuff like that, when you need just about whole framebuffer. Its... just... too... slow...)

Oh wow, I completely missed that.

Of course, I disagree, but agruing with Zenfolder about opinions is like talking to a wall.

Not really, the wall doesn't argue with you.
