Fall Of Reach book, is the best SCI FI book Ive read along with the Star Wars novels. Halo will make one of the best SCI FI films since Return of The Jedi in 1983. |
and here comes mr.fanboy.
LOL i cant believe you think halo's story is the best in vieogames, youv obvioulsy never played most games then.

Name a game that is as in depth and a game that geniuinely surprises everyone the way Halo has. Halo is very broad. Has a massive history orientated universe and ever so importantly an iconic character that you cant fail to recognise. It's the only game I know that has 5 mill + addicted to the story. I dont know how high that number is now, but about 3 mill actively play online religously. The rest are hooked to the story.

Deus Ex

It's good as games game. But Deus Ex could have been so much better. The story was to gamey. Thats the thing about Halo. It's entire story and script feel like it belongs at the cinema.

If you're going for cinematic then GoW is very cinematic. If you played for a cinematic feel rather than SA in Hitman, you could have really operatic scenes in Hitman (particularly the Curtain's Down mission).
I need to know what you define as a good video game story. Some people think that MGS has a great story because of how complicated it is, while others think it's a hinderance.
Deus Ex suffered from technological limits and poor voice acting.
BTW I noticed in my last post I said "Video game video game" lol.

It's not really about the VA etc ( although it helps ). But more to do with the actual characters and broader story. Is it believable that it is bigger than what you are seeing and being told? Does the story feel fleshed out?
Take MGS. MGS is all over the place. And it does a very poor job on the script. Because of this it suffers dramatically at seeming bigger than what your witnessing. You dont believe that there is a whole world out there while the events take place.
It's strange. For those who havent read Fall Of Reach book, you simply wouldn't have the foggiest as to why the director in OP would say what he's said. It really is a masterstroke that a single game in 2001 turned into an epic universe saga. And the character MasterChief ( by accident or not ) will be a massive iconic character on the big screen. It's like Star Wars. You can't put your finger on why it's awesome. It just is. And I think the major reason why, is not actually due to story, but to iconic things. Like the Lightsaber. Yoda. Darth Vader.
Halo has these to, Masterchief, Warthog, Elites, Prophets. It's this that makes Halo so good in the Sci Fi world.
