I wouldn't say halo was this gen's star wars, it would be more like star trek with powersuits.
the main character doesn't really say much and is really boring what comes to personality.
what comes to the story it's propably much better in the novels than in the games since I've finished the first and the second game about a year ago at my mate and I can't remember allmost anything about the storyline so that means I found it very generic, shoot aliens protect the earth kind of storyline.
and I personally can't come to like that helmet and suit since he looks like a motocross driver

on the positive side, it's a solid shooter which does well all things but doesn't really innovate the shooter genre.
Edit: I still think mass effect is the best scifi this gen, it has real character personalities and a storyline you can affect and I can't wait for the sequel. :)
