Colors are nice and they will happen, just not yet. It was early this year that Reggie was asked about that issue, and he says more colors will happen just not until after they can start to satify demand. Just last week a nintendo rep was quoted as saying that despite unprecendented amounts of Wii shipments demand would not be met for the holidays.

I believe we'll have to agree to disagree on the matter. I agree, black is a more aggressive color, and perhaps white has given the Wii a slight advantage, but I don't see offering it in black as being a deterrent to some. As someone pointed out, the DS is offered in many colors, and a new color was just released. The only difference in the packaging is the color, same wording, same functionality, same everything. A female can walk in, see the White DS Lite, the Pink DS Lite, and the Black DS Lite, and choose whichever one she feels is right for her. The same will happen for the Wii.

And the 360 is now offered in black as well, so Nintendo would reinforce this match up, Black 360, Black Wii. 

The one argument I would venture to concede in your favor would be the timing. Offering another color before Christmas seems foolish because there's no need. They will sell Wii like gangbusters this holiday, new SKU or not. Might as well hold onto that card until after the holidays when sales start to cool off again. 

Ok, I think that a whole bunch of SKUs is a bad choice to give a consumer but the idea that a bunch of color choices is bad is just silly. Everybody who goes into the store to buy a console is not going to know if they want/need HDMI ports or card readers and the like..but I can't think of anyone who wouldn't understand the "What color?" question. Most people have a favorite color and even if you are buying a gift there are safe colors like black and white to go with if you aren't sure which color they would like.

I've seen two other bundles. First the Rayman bundle with extra wiimote/nunchuck and last week a new bundle with Heatseeker ($15 extra).

I think more colors for the Wii would be nice... It's like the DS it should have more choices... It's sometimes hard to chose which one to pick (cause like the DS colors are so shiny/sexy) but makes people have more choices according to what they prefer and their other electronics' colors.

It's not really an important feature but it's still nice to have.

Do not drop Wii Sports. That's the game people buy the system for.

a lot of people seem to like the prospect of a black Wii, i just don't think it works that well, Black to me works on the PS3, PS2 (mainly slim cos the original was just ugly in whatever colour) PSP, i think Sony pulls off the black consoles pretty good....i bought a back GC for instance but i really wish i had got the purple instead.

colours that would be great for the Wii (IMO) a light blue (like the light blue DS), light pink, a really dark grey... like graphite grey, a bright red would be nice in a very striking way (but i wouldn't buy it).errrm, maybe like a champagne colour (kinda like a subtle gold).

I don't really feel like reading all this because I'm about to go on vacation for the next 2 days (trolling opportunists, now's the time!), but there's people arguing that Nintendo should keep it simple for consumers, offer only Wii.

This is true for different hardware SKUs, not colors. Different GB and card-reading SKUs do make a difference...an extra game or different color isn't really the same...they've been doing that for years with GBAs, DS, GC, whatever.

It would be incredibly stupid to remove Wii Sports. It's one of the best marketing tools the industry has ever seen.

A Zapper bundle seems likely - the NES my family bought in '88 came with a Zapper and the Mario/Duck hunt combo cart, so there's a precedent for it.

I personally think bundling Metroid would be smart- it's a great way to seel people on Wii FPSs, which obviously haven't pentrated yet. It seems less likely than the Zapper bundle, though.
