I say SSBB will out sell Halo 3 in long run but not on first day/ week sales and it will drive more Wii sales in my opinion.

Okay,
It will be many years before a game sells more copies in one week than Halo 3 did. When it does happen I say there is a 75% chance that it is a Halo related game. While I definitely agree that Super Smash Bros. Brawl will outsell Halo 3, I do not believe that it's first week numbers will be anywhere near. My guess is SSBB will sell 1 million copies worldwide in it's first week. It will have excellent legs though, like all Smash Bros games.
However I will say this. The only reason Brawl won't sell more than Halo in it's first week is because they don't want to. Well it's not that they don't want to, they just don't want to bother spending the money to hype it up. I personally believe that without all the hype Halo 3 probably would have sold just as many copies in its life as it will now. It's just that because of the hype they were front loaded. I think Nintendo knows this and knows that regardless of hype Brawl will still sell the same amount of copies, so why put the extra effort or cash in.

SSBB isn't receiving a simultaneous world-wide release, so comparing the later will cause a few problems. In the US alone, I don't think it stands a chance of beating Halo 3's first week record. World-wide, I still think Halo 3 will win, but by a smaller margin. |

Also, you can bet Nintendo is going to market this one, though not nearly as much as Halo 3. We still have a few months until the game is released so we won't see any heavy advertising for a while. As for the website, it's a great thing. You have the die hard fans that check it every day and then news sites like Kotaku comment on it every week. There's really no need to change how they're doing it. |

I pretty much agree with everything you said =P
Because Wii will probably far outsell the Xbox 360, it is likely that Brawl will far outsell Halo 3.
Melee was one of the Gamecube's top selling games, which rivaled Halo, and maybe Halo 2, in sales. The Gamecube was almost on par with Xbox, in total sales.
Wii's top selling game must sell more than the Xbox 360's top selling game, if the Wii does, far outsell the Xbox 360. That is assuming Brawl will be Wii's top selling game, and Halo 3 will be the Xbox 360's top selling game. Although Halo 3 will probably be the Xbox 360's top selling game, Super Mario Galaxy will probably be the Wii's top selling game, but because Brawl will follow close behind, it still has the advantage of sales over Halo 3. I don't count Wii Sports as a game... It's more of a demo...
8 million Cube owners have Melee. and many more plan on buying a Wii when Brawl comes out. Want to bet that Nintendo won't be able to make that many copies? Game Discs are cheap and easy to mass produce. Not to mention it comes out in the US first, then Japan, Europe, and Australia. So Nintendo should easily be able to meet demands at launch.
And even if you can't find it at GS or EB, then go to Best Buy, Target, or Wal-Mart.
Honestly as was said by SnesBoy 8-million GameCube owners have Melee a number that rivals if not defeats Halo2 which was the most succesful Halo game. Now that being said some are challenging the fact that day one selling power might be weaker then Halo3, I doubt it.
Many people like myself bought a Wii knowing SmashBros:Brawl was on its way. Many many SmashBros fans will purchase Wii's just for SmashBros and were talking massive market appeal due to the inclusion of so many characters. I think Sonic and Snake will also boost its sales abilities.
Now some people said Nintendo doesn't have the ability to pump out as many disks as Microsoft or to fund the same height of ad campaign. That is false Microsoft has been loosing crap loads of money on the 360 and its games. Thus meaning a smaller budget. In all Microsoft concentrated a large amount of its yearly ad budget to place Halo ads out their. However Nintendo has turned profits on everything they have made they have a much broader bracket for advertising.
As for manufacturing your correct. I don't know about right now but up untill now Nintendo has been the only manufacturer of its disk formats. So Nintendo has to use its manufacturing facilities to create both third party and first party software giving it a far smaller manufacturing ability.
Lastly confidence Nintendo never expects huge sales or so they say. The whole "It did far better then expected" is key to their marketing strategy. Nintend doesn't dissapoint because they avoid biting off more then they can chew.
Heres hoping Nintendo puts its nose to the grindstone and pushes sales of its game day one!

i know for a fact alot of xbox360 owners are planning on buying a wii with SSBB when it comes out. and have already preordered or close to preordering it for wii. so to say SSBB wont do those kind of sales cant be true it wouldnt suprise me if the sales for even day one is closer then what halo fanboys think. and the marketing for halo3 was all media hype. the hype for SSBB is all word of mouth which is actually much better then media hype willl ever be.

Most of the 360 owners are Halo fans or Halo-type-games fans, and since Wii is attracting a "new" audiance there's no telling how many of those new gamers will buy SSBB.
With the amount of advertising Microsoft has done for Halo 3, there's no way SSBB or SMG will beat Halo 3 on release date. Lifetime sales could be different though....how much different, well who knows =]
