One important question I never seem to get an answer to.
I play tennis, but apparently that won't make any difference in grand slam tennis.
Will I be able to pwn everyone in Virtua Tennis 2009 with my Tennis skills?
I LOVE ICELAND!

well than maybe you are just playing as if it was a game pretend that you are playing in real life ofcourse due to motion plus and then like play different types ofshots and try to play as if this was the real game and if it doesn't help go find a place like some gamestop that has virtua tennis 09 on demo for wii or go to a friend house and then try virtua tennis

So real life skill will matter in Grand Slam Tennis?

I think the obvious answer to this question is no. If they made the game like this, such that only people who knew how to play tennis would be good at it, then most people would suck at the game and it would be no fun. It might make it an incredibly good game but only for a very small number of people.

Why so glum? It can still incorporate the tactics and strategies of tennis so that people with a knowledge of the game have some advantage but if the control was highly realistic i fear it would be much too unforgiving for most people.
After a steep learning curve i really enjoy grand slam tennis now very much.
Now i only play on hard, have 5 stars rating, 3 skills on gold level and am ranked 635 in the world in online mode which is pretty addicting by the way.
So i can recommend grand slam tennis who isnt afraid of a learning curve but i cant compare it to virtua tennis 2009 since i havent played it yet.

Improvements are caused by people who complain
I have both and i prefer Virtua Tennis the only problem is that the game is very easy against the cpu
i dont remember losing a match so far
the motion+ controls are way better than the EA attempt although is not 1:1 motion of your character the ball 95% of the time goes wherever u want it to go.
Virtua Tennis is more like Wii Sports Tennis in that shot placement is timing based as opposed to Grand Slam Tennis, which is based on how you follow through.
GST is more like a 'tennis sim' so if you want your real world tennis game to help you, pick GST
