What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

I did as well. There's no doubt that Source engine has more pedigree than every engine in top four. Unreal engine should be number one and Source number two imo. That list is bullshit.

Naughty Dog Engine is pretty good. Unreal Engine is awesome. Isn't Unreal Enging used in the Gears of War franchise.

I agree with this. I wasn't too fond of Crysis, but there is no denying Crytek has made one of the most capable engines ever.

The Source engine should be in there somewhere too.

           I agree completely, CryEngine and Source and Unreal are the first ones that come to mind when asking myself this question. 

           2 out of the 3 missing = fail (IMO).

What is the Chrome engine doing there, maybe they meant CryEngine, and the guy researching did not realise he was doing the wrong one....

Anyway, can I just point out Uncharted 1 and 2 run on different engines, U2 AT runs on the ND Engine 2.0, they have made vast improvements to it, but I would say that and the KZ 2 engine are certainly the top console engines

I guess I agree with uncharted being number 1, but cryengine 2 or 3 should of been in there

People are actually crying about the list lacking Source? Come on, the engine was old years ago, they've just managed to keep it from falling too much behind. And don't get this wrong, personally I think Episode Two looks great. But the engine is definitely outdated. We're not talking about favorite games here, remember. I, for one, would never rate Crysis (CryEngine 2) over Uncharted, yet I'm saying CryEngine 2 is better than the engine Uncharted used. Also, I don't think it should have been #1 despite Uncharted being my favorite games this gen.

Unreal engine instead of CryEngine is fail.
Source engine indeed does not deserve to be in such a list because it dies a painful death with HDR/Global lightning and so on, much like the Unreal engine.
