Forums - Sales - How much do you think the Michael Jackson game would sell first week WW?

Hmm... well, I agree with TruckOSaurus, by then it'll be too late. Those wanting to unload a copy of Moonwalker for the Genesis have a golden opportunity right now, with copies going for about $60 average on eBay. The used game store I was in earlier today said they sold their copy yesterday for $100.

But sales, since that's what this site is about. Across all 3 platforms, sales will be about 1 million total. However, release from announcement of this short a window (

The best Michael Jackson game ever was Moonwalker on the Sega Megadrive/Genesis.

PC gaming rules.....

I remember Moonwalker. I don't remember ever wanting to play it.

Whats really cool is the confirmed music video he shot b4 his death. It was made using James Cameron's avatar cameras and was going to be shown at his new concerts.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

btw, a few games had michael jackson involvement. The arcade Moonwalker, the console version and he also guest starred in some dance game.

/THIS. The only kind of game I can imagine me getting with Michael Jackson beeing the main character.

Singstar: Michael Jackson
Rockband: Michael Jackson
Guitar Hero: Michael Jackson
Rockband: The Jackson Five
Guitar Hero: The Jackson Five
Singstar: The Jackson Five
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (PSN/WiiWare/XBLA)
Michael jackson's arcade beat'em up (PSN/WiiWare/XBLA)
Imagine: Bleaching your Facez

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

It'll do decently, but it won't be a blockbuster. The public attention span is notoriously short, and Holiday 2009 will be too late to catch the new MJ-craze at its peak. They might get a bit of a boost, though.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
