Forums - Nintendo - IGN Wii guys thanked in the Conduit's credits. Possible bias in review?

Yeah sure bias. I didn't know about The Conduit until I saw it on IGN. When I went to look at other sites, "The Conduit" didn't even exist in their games database.

here are some secret excerpts i came across of conversation between an unnamed IGN staff and HVS

" ok ok i rate ur game high but make sure i'm in the credits ok ??????"

"damn you guys spelled my name wrong, now i'm gonna give u only a 8.6 rating"

That is a blatant lie. What you are suggesting is incomprehensible......that the reviewers finished the game (in order to see that their names were misspelled). EVERYONE knows that reviewers do not finish games before reviewing......they simply see the size on the cheque.

but but u can watch the credits in the options right? riiiiight?

Well, if you can, then consider me owned (seriously....I don't know, since I never played it. Thinking about it though, who would go and watch the credits? I usually skip the credits during whatever game I finish...I can't imagine going back and watching them again).

I think that a possible bias of IGN has been easily offset by an obvious bias of Giant Bomb.

You think Giant Bomb is biased?

They are one of the least biased sites. Go look at their top rated games. It is littered with games from every console and genre.

But then again. The media is biased against the wii. It makes perfect sense.

EDIT: that quote is to be used when something is completely unfounded right?

Must be a thread with a "I figured out why..." as the headliner.

This is a joke, right?  I told people on this website two days before their The Conduit review came out that Giant Bomb is worthless for Wii owners.  First, they don't review many Wii games.  They have reviewed a few more PC games, around three times the number of PS3 games, and around six times the number of 360 games.

Let's look at their top rated games.  I'll include all the systems that they have reviewed games for.  Three DS games, three PC games, fourteen PS3 games, zero PSP games, zero PS2 games, fifteen 360 games, and one Wii game.

Now we'll talk about their The Conduit review.  They gave it a 2/5, the same score they gave to a game called Target Terror.  The Conduit's average review score is 72.99%.  Target Terror's average review score is a 37.05%.

that's the problem with using a 5 scale for reviews. You guys don't want a 100 grade scale and this is one of the consequences. They just don't have many wii games sent to them to be reviewed.

Instead, why don't you look up the ratio of what systems games made the top.

Prof: How 'bout you actually read the Giant Bomb review and see what Rol's talking about. I read the review and let's just say there were... problems.

DS 3/12 = 25%

PC 3/25 = 12%

PS2 0/2 = 0%

PS3 14/63 = 22%

PSP 0/5 = 0%

Wii 1/19 = 5%

360 15/114 = 13%

Like that?  Or like this?

Total = 240         High scoring games = 36

DS 12/240 = 5%                 3/36 = 8%

PS2 2/240 = <1%               0/36 = 0%

PS3 63/240 = 26%             14/36 = 39%

PSP 5/240 = 2%                 0/36 = 0%

Wii 19/240 = 8%                  1/36 = 3%

360 114/240 = 47.5%          15/36 = 42%

Another problem is that it is Jeff Gerstmann.  The man can hardly play Wii Bowling.

There are few truisms on the Internet, but this is one of them.
