You have to admit if this thread was anything but negative forza news, it probably wouldn't have gotten all the way to 9pgs

To those thinking people are getting on this news because they are Sony fanboys.
Enough with that shit please. Just because someone has something negative to say does not make them some fanboy. That shit is really annoying.
With that said, if this indeed ends up being true, well, Turn-10 should have kept it zipped when they made all of their recent comments, especially the ones that were aimed at Gt5, like "dropping the ball", being the "definitive racer", so on and so forth.
This is why this game is getting attacked for this news. Not because someone is a fanboy, but because you don't go shit talking a game, calling your game better, claiming the other guys dropped the ball, yadda yadda, only to find out that that game has (at the moment if this holds true) -
1.) Double the amount of available cars
2.) Double the amount of cars on track during races.
3.) NASCAR
4.) Rally
5.) Weather change
6.) Day/Night change
I am sure the list goes on, but before wasting your time labelling people as "Sony fanboys" try taking a step back, realizing all the bullshit that Turn-10 had been spewing from their mouths lately and then you will understand that this is why they are getting flak. Not because everyone with a negative comment is "Sony fanboy".
From my vantage point I can say that when I see someone start calling people fanboy for having something negative to say tells me much more about that person than it does about the one(s) they target.

I hate night races and le mans, or whatever its called, is just sooo boring. But there absolutly needs to be weather in a race game. Otherwise they couldve done a dragracing game. One stretch, pedal to the metal.

Wrong. This announcement is being vastly overblow. All those things you've mentioned are quanitative bullet points, and have nothing to do with how good the game will be, or how it will end up.
Same thing I said when Sony fans were heavily touting Resistance 2's superiority over Gears, due to a number of meaningless bulletpoints.
In the end, it is how the game plays, the quality of the graphics and environments, and the quality of content that will earn the title to difinitive sim this gen, and not some meaningless talking point such as "my game has night racing."
It's silly to sum up an entire game as inferior, simply because it doesn't have some generic specific feature you believe a game of this genre should have. Especially something as trivial as night racing.
The lack of weather effects is much more significant to me, however, I do believe that this falls under that same theory. You don't know how the game will play, or be. You think you do, because it is a simulation, and you think it should be as close to real life as possible, but that isn't true. Above all else, it is a game, and even if it doesn't have any of those things you've mentioned, it could still be the best racing game this genration, if it is. Things like this won't sway that either way.
It's the quality of your content that matters, not the spin of your talking points.
That is something that I wish a few people would understand better on this forum, and in life.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
"It's the quality of your content that matters, not the spin of your talking points."
I agree, that's why I prefer GT5P or GT5, since all I see is Turn 10 making spin and talking points about their 'definitive racer'.
^
problem is we keep getting these things from PD and no demo ( GTPrologue was almost 2years ago and not the final outcome of the game) and no gameplay.
I personally think both companies need to keep their mouths shut. Turn 10 needs to stop acting like they're the shit cuz they're not. If they were they would have had all the features GT5 had been bitching about all these damn years and still come out in OCt. And PD needs to shut up and finish the fucking game cuz a fan's patience can only go so far....
I like weather in racing games especially if it actually affects handling. Night races aren't needed but if your going to do a 24 hours LeMans race i say you need to get day/night cycles implemented or remove the LeMans Race, this is supposed to be a sim i don't want to simulate a 24 hour race with 24 hours of noon sun. And I don't have much to say at the moment considering rally usually isn't too fantastic in a GT game but with the WRC license this could all have changed to really do a true rally sim. If it has real WRC tracks i can see myself having a blast with rally racing.
| ZenfoldorVGI said: Well, despite the fact that the game is missing some aesthetic features, everyone here completely misses the point of a "game." It's like making a thread laughing because Miyamoto announced that Link couldn't jump in OOT, unless a ledge allowed it. Until we see the game, we really will have no idea if this matters at all. Truth, the most terrible racing game in the world could have night racing, and it would still be the most terrible racing game. The best racing game could lack car damage, and it would still be the best racing game. This will be completely overblown by every Sony fanboy in this thread. They have made GT their last Golden Cow this generation, and the last best hope for their console making a turnaround. Forza 3 is a threat to that. Obviously, they must attack it with all the zeal they can muster. Is anything I've said a lie? Please, stop the party. It's pathetic. |
Downplay this news as much as you wish, but that particular line is complete garbage.
I mean, rallying and night options I'd accept most people could grumble about and live without reasonably happily, but lack of weather is really quite a significant omission.
Weather is a staple part of racing sims, and after all selnor's talk of tyre deformation and track detail, it's irrefutable that this major component's absence will be sorely lamented, since effects like weather and sleet have a huge effect on racing conditions.
It's not a gamebreaker, but it certainly reduces Forza 3's scope.
I agree that weather is quite important, but it's funny that Sony fanboys always regarded GT as the ultimate racing game even if it didn't have such an incredibly important feauture as car damage.
Car damage >>> weather change.
I hate bumper car racing in GT, it's meaningless to play without damage.

So your saying that if what I bullet pointed are what I consider to be important than I am wrong?
If I think that 16 cars on track is better than 8 that means I am wrong?
If I think that 800 cars is better than 400 that means I am wrong?
If I think that night racing is important I am wrong?
If this is what I think personally and what I value in a racing game than I am actually in fact right and not wrong.
To you these may not be important, but to me they might be, and for that you are wrong in saying that I am wrong, because those bullet points are what I am looking at. The features I am personally looking for are in one game and not the other (if this news is indeed true), so for that I can in fact decide for myself if one is better than the other. Same goes for anyone else in this thread who shares a similar thought.
You really think it isn't a big deal that I may need to do a race that spans 24-hours yet it will remain daytime during the entirety of the race?
If that is how you feel, then by all means go ahead and think that way.
That was the point of my post. I think one way, you think another. Calling someone a fanboy for thinking the way some people in here do is ridiculous because by your newly appointed standard that makes me a "Sony fanboy" because I actually see this news as a negative and I am doing what you consider to be "overblown".
If I do now fall into that category then so be it. This is my opinion on the news and it won't change.
I also am not sitting here trying to claim it as inferior with the bulletpoints. Please re-read my post. I used those bulletpoints as part of my point where I said Turn-10 shouldn't have went around touting their game as superior. If that makes me so wrong, then at least agree with me in saying that Turn-10 shouldn't have touted their game as superior, seeing as how I can't sit here and say it is inferior.
So I just have one question for you then.
If I don't get to decide which game is better, who does?
