yes, COD: WAW didnt even do 100k with both NA and others and still sold a million

its just some people (you know who you are)  who like to complain

CoD:WaW was released in the holiday season, has call of duty in the title and also sold a lot less on Wii than on PS3 and 360. The Conduit, a new IP, want come close to CoD sales.

just stfu, i dont care what you have to say anymore

You just made Pepsi come out of my nose. It stings :(

Yes really, Ive seen a ton of advertising for this game on Comedy Central and Cartoon Network(Adult Swim). I know its a new IP and could have great legs, but I am afraid that the dev costs+advertising(tv spots cost a lot) could result in the death of "hardcore" (or whatever I consider games that games that aren't petz, fitness games, shovelware and the like) games for the system. I dont know what they spent on the game, nor do I want to see it fail, but I am overall hoping for alot more sales in the future and am dissapointed about the launch numbers.

When you see ads in national Tv or big events like the Super Bowl or The World series you know they spend a lot in advertising..... Comedy Central and Adult Swim .... really?????

I just finished reading an article saying the average price of a national 30 second spot on the Disney channel is $133k. I would assume running spots during South Park, Daily Show, Family Guy and Monday Night Raw(WWE) are not going to cost less than 50k a spot. I also read another article that you can have a spot played on a cable channel like CNN, ESPN or HGtv in a local market 200x for 10k. So I dont know anymore, either way hope it all works out for this game and HV.

You've got to realize most of these businesses have contracts for advertising, so say they bought spots on Raw for months and they could run a number of their games on that spot, like on Raw I saw Madworld, House of the Dead, Sonic and the Black Night, Sonic Unleashed, The Conduit, and I believe one other title, now they don't have to pay that money for each different ad they run.

Plus this is all a business expence so at least part of it is probably written off on taxes.  In the end advertising isn't THAT expensive, and it's not going to be all for one game the expenses are spread out.

I wish Sega would have spent some of that advertising money on Valkyria Chronicles. The sales on that one are a travesty for it still being the best RPG on the PS3, taking into account the higher costs of developing a PS3 game and one with lots of beautiful art at that...

Told you even numbers this good would still get comments about flopping.

It sold the same amount as Haze and 40K less than Too Human. How can that be considered anything other than disappointing.

It isn't that difficult: the two titles you quoted were AAA-budget games from well-known developers, while The Conduit is the first real shot at a game done by a mediocre studio. It was pricey, let's not kid ourselves, but holding it to the same standards as those games?

Well, do what you gotta do, mate.

This is sad, if true. 150k in the first two weeks, that doesn't bode well for HVS. A game like The Conduit has to sell 3m copies to break even.

Well, it IS more expensive to make than Madworld, that's for sure...

Only issue with Haze and Too Human as examples is that many games tend to be like Call of Duty World at War and Call of Duty 3 Where they have weak starts and go on to sell at least a million however Haze and Too Human will never reach those numbers.

Games on PS3 and 360 are heavy frontloaded which was rare last gen unless it was your Halos, your Zeldas, or your GTAs, for the most part games had modest openings and slow burned to a million, with PS3 and 360 it's a bit more rare to have that slow burn to a million, and the Wii will.  100k is a good opening for your non big name titles on Wii because most games that sell at least that much their first week will have the slow burn to a million, it's not every game but it's likely.

why are we using first 2 weeks, it sold 95k on its first week. That's terrible, the game will only achieve a small net income just to make another. Just horrid numbers.

Wii games has good legs, Wii is selling better than the 360 and ps3 on any region (and that's why wii games has good legs). If you are in a sales forum as you stated, please be logical in your responses.

Huh World at War opened to half that, sold a million, and then made activision a nice profit imagine that.

True, but it didn't plummet in its second week. I think if the drop for this week is equally modest, and things stick at around this level, the game will be golden. Lots of "ifs," though. On the other hand, its European release is still coming up, which should help quite a bit.
