You really put down RE5 story and then praise RE4s?
Go rescue the presidents daughter with mysterious villages and ancient castles with rooms full of lava and giant mechanical platforms that move on giant cogs, with an island full of soldiers that you take on alone.

RE has always had shitty stories, i actually liked RE5 more than RE4's because it actually had to do with umbrella.
It makes more sense to have an on the rails RE on the Wii than a true installment? Why is that? Oh, because it's cheap to make and it's easy money. I don't see Wii getting RE:5. If there were plans, it'd be put into motion already. They don't even seem to care about the idea. But, if by some miracle it did show up on Wii, that'd be cool. And while they're busy downgrading the graphics, if the upgraded the controls (RE: 4 Wii style) I'd buy it.
Resident Evil 5 hasn't sold as well as Capcom wanted has now been confirmed???

I'd definitely buy it if they released it on Wii... the controls in RE5 really turned me off, but with a control style similar to RE4 Wii's controls, that would make the game a heckuva lot more enjoyable.
But yea, I'd much prefer RE4-2 then a scaled down port of RE5 with better controls... I doubt that Capcom would go through the trouble to port it on the Wii anyway since its sales probably wouldn't be enough to justify its release in the first place.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
"You just took something out of context and assumed it was meant as graphics over new control style when I said nothing about either."
You put it in that context, but using that bullshit line the HD fanboys have been spewing, and you even tried to justify it. And claiming it's never going to happen shows you haven't even paid attention to the OP.

Was Street Fighter II a disappointment in the arcades when it was ported to the SNES? It was a hit. Ports are more for hits than flops. Only gamers who think porting is inexpensive think ports prove games are flops (not that ports of flops never happen, but that's less than 1% of ports).
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

I am pretty sure Resident Evil 5 could be ported to the Wii and looks good within the machine's limitations. However, I am pretty sure Capcom doesn't have the technical ability to do so. As a matter of fact, they even reckon they couldn't even do the opening screen.
I think this is a weak attempt at putting out a fire with bad PR.
Before Capcom released RE5 on the HD console, we heard about the Wii not even able to do the title screen; this was a signal from Capcom that Wii-owning Resident Evil fans should just go buy an HD console to get the game. This goes back to the beginning of the generation when the industry thought gamers would buy both: an HD console for serious gaming, and the Wii for wacky motion-controlled stuff. Capcom believed it, and were trying to force the market to adopt to this notion.
Now that the game is actually out, they still had Wii gamers coming to them asking for a Wii port, either refusing to buy the HD game, or having played it--and hating it--wanted a proper Resident Evil game on Wii. The market pushed back. Without a proper Resident Evil game in development--or too early in development to talk about--and only spin-offs and remakes in the near future, Capcom was facing an army of Wii owners who were getting frustrated with the lack of support. Saying that the Wii could handle RE5 is an attempt to buy them some time, to replace some of that frustration with hope, before it turns to anger, and then hate.
Capcom should be more upfront with their Wii plans; if they're not going to put an original, proper RE game on the Wii, then say so, so Wii owners can ditch them and look for something else. Of course, I doubt Capcom wants to do that, since they want people to buy those spin-offs on the Wii, but what good is having fans if they revolt? Wouldn't it be better to let them go, and then try to win them back when you're ready, than to keep them caged up, while you have nothing worthwhile to offer?

Well Monster Hunter 3 and Resident Evil 4 (the best looking game on the GC) would like to say hello to whomever made that claim.
It'd only be good if they got rid of Sheva in the Wii version. Then it's a must buy
