Sony more money then Sega
M$ more money then Sony

This but M$ has way more than Sony.

Sony and Sega there wasnt as big a gap.

Nonsence...sega was profitable every year until 1997. They lost 700 million in 1997 and 1998 combined and they were almost out of business.

Sony lost what 3.1 billion last year and are still going strong. There is a huge $ difference between sony and sega.

Besides, sony and MS company dollar really doesn't matter.  Gaming is a small side business for both and I believe Sony is investing more money in to gaming supporting all platforms than MS ever did.

So conclusion

Sony$ >>>> Sega$

MS$~= Sony$ (in gaming)

Seems to me that Sony killed Sega off because of $$$ and now gradually maybe Microsoft are doing the same to Sony. If this is the case then why are there so many Sega fans backing Microsoft to kill off Sony. I wont name names but i think i know a few off the top of my head. Maybe they have a deep hatred of Sony but surley they are massivly hipocritical?

If you were a loyal supporter of a company (Sega) and they were driven out of the hardware business by some damn corporation (sony) wouldn't you support the company (Microsoft) that is most likely to drive Sony out of the gaming business?

Theres no doubt that sony are getting a taste of their own medicine this gen with regards to Microsoft having more money to burn than their competitors (Just like sony had more money to burn when they took out Sega)

Microsoft has had strong exclusives and great 3rd party support. Sega didn't have much of that for the Saturn and Dreamcast.

Edit: I don't think its just money. Making quality games helps too, look at Nintendo.

The early line up for Dreamcast was one of the best to ever grace a console, so it's not games that are the issue. Unless you are talking about the Saturn.

I think you're exaggerating how great the early line up is. Also bear in mind the PS1 and N64 were still getting major releases during the life of the Dreamcast. So that wasn't helping the Dreamcast sell.

To be honest it's money.

Sony killed Sega with money and nearly killed Nintendo. Sony bought franchise after franchise which gave them power in the industry.

Now Sony are getting there own medicine and are trying to match someone with much much more money and power. Sony are getting there own recipe.

There is just one pretty big difference. PS1 made huge pile of money even with Sony buying some exclusives. Original Xbox lost huge pile of money. If I remember right even more than Sony has lost this gen with PS3. Any other manufacturer and they would have left console business after losses what original xbox made.

It's a very easy answer. Microsoft has much more money. The first Microsoft console didn't do very well at all. There wouldn't have been another if it weren't for the amount of money that they were willing to invest.

If Microsoft had consoles perform like the Saturn and then the Dreamcast it wouldn't be a very big deal at all. Microsoft will have a console as long as Bill Gates wants one made, regardless of how it does financially. It's really as simple as that.

There should be a dedicated thread on just the fuck ups of Sega. It is so laughably bad on how much they screwed up the Saturn (despite it had the best port of Daytona and Virtual Cop.)

Also, Sony releasing a ridiculously high priced console didn't hurt the success of the 360.

A thread dedicated to all of the mistakes in gaming by all companies would be even more entertaing. As long as it wouldn't turn into a fanboy war.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Microsoft could afford loosing billions.

Sega couldn't

That's it.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

I don't really understand how people can make stupid statements like this.

It's as if they think the lost money itself is the problem and not the business decisions that brought it about.

Yeah, I think Nintendo's list would be the second biggest one next to sega.
