Forums - PC - CRAP! I just read up on Battlefield 1943...

24 players was perfect for a lot of maps, especially smaller ones like Berlin and Stalingrad. Only large maps like Midway or El Alamein needed 32 players, IMO.

No antitank/engineer is a slice of BS, though. Infantry is supposed to fight tanks with grenade spam, now? The engineer class was my favourite, too...

^^ Did you not notice the Xb360 button prompts? That wasn't a PC version running.

Also no Battlefield game will ever not have multiplayer.

Thanks for pointingh that out, that its a X360 version on screen!

About multiplayer, I dont think Bad company 1 had mp (xcept on PC?), and anyways Akvod said "Im sad Bad Company 2 wont have more players than 1" - whatever that actually means.

WHat I love is 1843 game is it has open world maps, total freedom, much like the incredible Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.

Terrible with only 12 vs 12 players though 1943, that sux.

I hope MAG will be very open world too. 256 players in the same warfield - amazing!!

Bad Company had open maps too, had destructible environments, more classes, and looks like better graphics.

I'm sad that Bad Company 2 won't have more players than 1, but the destructible environments are going to be AWESOME. In Bad Company, the destructible environments were like sprites, walls broke the same exact way and after a while, you can actually predict how a wall or roof will break after you shoot there.

Interesting, because from the screens of BF 1943 it looks like it's the same way, the destruction is 'false' in that buildings fall down and breaks in predictable patterns. I hate that.

But maybe the upgraded engine for Frostbyte, like u say Bad company 2 will be a lot better.

Holy crap did that look good! Not only the destruction but i didnt know Bad Company 2 would be open-world and have multiplayer, plus the grafix were great! (now dont tell me the console versions will look much worse and have no multiplayer)

I think that was the 360 footage. TBH, I don't think the graphics were that much of an improvement from the first game. The E3 trailer you saw (I'll post it at the end of the post) is pretty much how the first game looks, only a bit more polished. I am stunned at the micro destruction though, and the level of detail it contains, but I don't think that's necessarily better graphics. I'll say it's better animation.

Bad Company, which I don't think has even been released on PC (I remember some talk/announcements, but I don't think it ever materialized) has always been open world (for Conquest, but Gold Rush only keeps getting bigger and bigger as each crate gets destroyed. However, it doesn't do much since the spawn points get moved closer and closer).

I'm really surprised and kinda dissapointed at the lack of knowledge on Bad Company, especially since it seems like the more you find out, the more you're pleasently surprised and happy about it.

Bad Company always had 24 players (dissapointed that Bad Company 2 will still contain the same ammount). It always had destructible environments. It always had good graphics. It always had vehicles. It always had huge open maps.

1943, is alright for being a cheap DL game. But I think that aside from its price point, it's only a gimped down version of Bad Company 1 in a different setting. And since Bad Company 1 is cheap, that the price point of 1943 is something not worth caring about. I am surprised at the similarity between 43 and Bad Company though. But that also means that PC fans should be dissapointed, because 43 isn't really a sequel of 42, but a spin off of the console Battlefield (Bad Company).

Errr Bad Company had multiplayer, and I don't think it's even on PC, and if it was, it's only after the initial release on consoles. Gold Rush was really fun, but when Conquest came out, I never turned back. What I meant by the green text is that Bad Company 2 will still feature 24 players like Bad Company 1, and I'm a supporter for Bigger Maps and Bigger Player Capacities. As long as the two are in proportion, it won't get overcrowded (the only thing I'll worry about are snipers, and that question will be answered in the experiment that'll be MAG).

Didn't Modern Combat feature 50+ players (I don't have a good PC so I can't say)? So a PC Battlefield fan should be dissapointed about 43, unless they do MASSIVE changes for the PC version (that means more classes, bigger maps, etc).

Let me make this point clear. 1943 is more in line with the console Battlefields (Modern Combat for the PS2/Xbox, and Battlefield Bad Company 1 and 2), than the PC Battlefields (1942, MC, 2142), and IMHO I think that 1943 is inferior to the Bad Company series, and is incomparable to the PC Battleifleds. It's only 15 dollars, but I think that strictly looking at its contents, that it is undeserving of all the hype it's getting, when it's sister games have more content and revolutionized all the hyped contents first (Destructible environments).

Thanks for clearing those things up Akvod. I kinda ignored Bad Company, but yes I remember clearly now that it was console exclusive (although still thought it was single player only).

I think this 1943 for cheap bucks is just meant as a' quick fix' in waiting of Bad Company 2. Bad company 2 seems to be the big investment by DICE/EA.

Too bad it only sold half a million for each respective HD console (I think).

I really think that desctructible environments are a postitive and HUGE change. In Killzone 2, our clan matches were built around covering entry points, doors, stairs, etc. With destructible environments, the attacker can be a LOT more creative (They can breach through any way possible).

When I play Bad Company and I'm shooting from a building, I don't just duck and cover at a window, I fucking SPRINT the fuck out as far as I can from the wall, before a RPG or grenade shoves chunks of concreate into me (like you saw in the E3 trailer I posted, with the medic. That happens A LOT).

If I get shot from behind, and I'm still alive, I'll sprint, flip up the sights for a grenade launcher, and like an action movie, shoot and jump through the hole I made in the wall, and try to recoup myself. I love taking a Jeep, and just ramming into the side of a enemy base, and jumping out and start shooting people. I love, being able to go up into a roof, blow open a hole, and with my trust M60 or the MG36(?) create a light machine gun nest.

I mean, there's no way you can camp anymore. If you're sitting in a corner, with a shot gun, I'll just plant a C4 on the other side of the wall, and blow you up.

I really like the destructible elements. Can't wait for BF3 on PC. :)

Maybe they didnt succeed in portraying the destructability as a big enough selling point (as much as it deserves).

After these Bad company and new BF games, un-destructible environments in a war game should become obsolete pretty soon (although there was some Red xxxx-something named game a few years ago with destrictible environments too, but sadly it seems to take a while before all games support it).

That E3 trailer was awesome. I love your description of how it changes gameplay tactics and the dynamics when your cover can be destroyed.

I just prefer 6 vs 6 Call of Duty style.

I think it is pretty obvious BF1943 is playing on the well known game/name of 1942 as a way to get more console players interest in the Battlefield name.

A great way to advertise Bad Company 2....by selling us a game.

Well, I guess having people be introduced to destructible environments through 1943 is better than nothing at all. Just wish there'll be some recognition where it's due.

Hopefully people will realize how amazing destructible environments are, and they'll always feel like something's missing when a FPS doesn't have it. Hopefully that new standard of destructible environments will be a great way to advertise Bad Company 2.
