Forums - Nintendo - Wii Motion Plus in Japan: success.

Wii Motion Plus has sold in Japan more than 600.000 units ( 360.000 sold with WiiSports Resort and 296.000 individual units ).

This number has been achieved in his first week of sales.

This may mean that Japanese developers will start supporting this device strongly.

Just waiting for the sales numbers of WiiSports Resort for the American and European release at the end of July!

Did anybody not expect this?

Wow, impressive. I had forgotten about the WM+ seperate from WSR.

Impressive indeed.... lets hope that it will reach a million soon :D

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

While 600k units is impressive, I would hold off a bit on calling it a success.

Since, if I have this correctly, Wii Sports Resort is the only Wii Motion + game released in Japan, very few of those standalone units sold went to people without WSR. That would mean WMP has a 5% attatch rate so far in Japan. While 5% week one is definitely good, it's still far from the 50% that I would myself see as a success.

That's an impressive launch and the legs will be strong too.

It'll be interesting to see how many titles incorporate it from now through to E3 2010 and also whether Red Steel 2 is the only big holiday title with Wii MotionPlus gameplay..

At least one Japanese company needs to capitalize on this and offer a Japanese-centric game untill the end of 2009. If not, they'll miss out on a ton of money.

If this correlated to the whole world there would be 4 million WM+ sold worldwide (of course this can't be the case since WSR has not been launched WW yet).

Nevertheless, my prediction of at least 20 million WM+ sold this year looks good so far!

No, Grand Slam Tennis was released the same week.

Powerful launch, let's hope the legs can keep the attachment moving strong. With any luck, we'll be seeing a plethora of WM+ games coming out within the next year and that should allow WM+ to hit that desired 50% attach rate that quite a number, including myself want to see.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?
