Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto says 'wait' for a new Kid Icarus

It will be risky releasing a new Kid Icarus game after a long time.

I personally think that with his inclusion in Smash Brothers as a playable character, it would be less risky than what happened with Punch Out (since Mac was only an assist trophy).

I'am not only waiting for this I also wait for Donkey Kong, Starfox, Wave Race, Mario Tennis, Luigis Mansion 2, Pikmin 3,, F-Zero

You forgot about Kirby and a Yoshi-centric game...

Yoshi's Island DS was pretty slick. The Kirby scenario on the other hand is bugging me... wtf is Sakurai doing!?

Sakurai has nothing to do with the new Kirby game. He long left HAL before that game was even announced.

You're right but isn't he the creator of Kirby? He must have some involvement... for the chance that i'm mistaken though i'll correct myself, wtf is "HAL" doing!?

How technical is your game?

Well, since he left HAL, he probably has no involvement whatsoever. Just like Itagaki has no involvement in Ninja Gaiden anymore.

Wait indeed. Wait for Newii.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

Yeah because IIRC, Sakurai didn't like making sequels much. Hence why he hesitated to make Smash Bros sequels.

Why do people want a Kid Icarus so badly? Everyone that wants it so bad makes it sound identical to a Zelda game. That's pretty much how people describe how they'd like a Kid Icarus game on the Wii. A Zelda game with Greek Mythology. No, just no. Nintendo is making 3 games right now, so there is no way Kid Icarus is coming this generation.

Let this Kid Icarus thing die.

Currently enjoying: Monster Hunter Tri.

I doubt KI Wii even exists. I just want my Star Fox Wii. ;-; *hugs Fox*

Sadly, I bet they're going to bring out a new SF on DS. And save Star Fox's next big adventure for their HD console... Maybe a launch title.

I wanted to say this. I am dying for a new platformer from Nintendo, a new platformer. Kid Icarus is seemingly the closest were going to get from them so...

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
