Short answer: no
Long answer: hell no

Even if lets say Sony would leave the console scene IMO they would still have to share the FF IP with MS...

why? what if nintendo had the best graphics/controls, millions sold, and microsoft was just trying to cater to the casuals (a demographic that nintendo already has a firm grip on), and as a result, has incredibly low sales? yea im sure square would stick with microsoft at that point.

Thats a large what if. If Sony was to dissapear likely a new competitor would enter the market to take their place, say Apple or Cisco or one of the half dozen other major hardware manufacturers who have been eyeing the console market. Not to mention Microsoft would likely become the new home for the FF main series.

Why because , Microsoft would see the vacuum in Japan as the perfect oppertunity to break in to the general Japanese market something they've failed to do to date. Microsoft would pay Square millions and would likely become the new publishing partner much like Sony was for FF7 onwards.

Then lets say Microsoft was switching its focus to casual gamers, as long as it has the biggest graphical guns Square would support them not Nintendo.

So no, in short Square-Enix will see much greater support by sticking with Microsoft in the case that Sony does leave the industry (Which won't happen) I don't expect to see Final Fantasy exclusive to Nintendo platforms for at least another decade if ever!

i think its just stupid to say nintendo will never see a main final fantasy exclusive game ever. why would it be nintendo that are the last ones to ever see it again? and i seriously doubt square cares who has the biggest 'graphical guns,' do you think thats why the developed ff for ps2? some would argue the genesis had better graphics than the super. so i think saying graphics is a deciding factor between square going to microsoft over nintendo is bullshit, and even if they did make their decision based off graphics, who is to say nintendo wont have better graphics than microsoft either next generation or the generation after that? afterall, nintendo is the company that gave final fantasy a chance, and its hard to say whether or not they would even be here without them.

Yes initially I belive that graphics played a huge role in Square choosing PS2. When the PS2 launched in 1999 it had arguably superior graphics to the Sega DreamCast and Nintendo's 64. It went unchallenged till 2001 when it went to the GameCube shortly after with Crystal Chronicles. Continued support for the PS2 was simply do to hardware success in Japan and the kickbacks that Sony gave them to remain exclusive. Sony acted as a publishing partner who's first party teams assisted Square Enix in making their FF games.

Why won't Nintendo see the mainstream fanchise return for another decade or so. Simple reasons

1.Nintendo is graphically out gunned. Now you point out that next generation Nintendo could lead, not likely. Nintendo has championed themselves as building cheap cost effective hardware a more powerful system then PS4/X-Next would have to be more expensive then their competitions hardware. Which would be contrary to Nintendo's own guidlines.

2.Nintendo would never pay the amount of kickbacks Sony and Microsoft are willing to pay. You know for a fact that Microsoft gave Square tons of incentives to port FF13 over and Sony is giving even more incentives to prevent FF14 from being ported to 360. Nintendo on the other hand is satisfied to see Chocobo games and Crystal Chronicles titles. They are in no rush to pay for Square's content the way Microsoft and Sony are.

3.Sony isn't going anywhere any time soon. They are restructuring and innovating to try and stay in the game. I more then anyone here would love to see Sony bite the dust but that is irrational.  As long as Sony continues to be around providing Square with tons of benefits we won't see the franchise switch over to Nintendo , let alone exclusively to Nintendo. The soonest Sony could die is if PSPGo and PS4 both bomb. Which at earliest would be 2016.

4. Nintendo and Square used to be really tight, but their relationship has faded. For Square to exclusively support Nintendo again would require alot of Nintendo's support. At one time Square had the liscensing rights to mainstream First party franchises like Mario. Nintendo would have to show similiar support today. Nintendo isn't going to outsource the likes of Mario to Square-Enix ever again, its highly doubtful.

5. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is already exclusive to Nintendo's platforms. Nintendo and Square work really closely on the Crystal Chronicles franchise. With their already being an exclusive FF franchise on the Wii and DS it is doubtful that Square will any time soon switch over their mainstream titles. Why bother putting all your eggs in one basket when you can put them in three and turn more profit. Square stands to gain alot of profit supporting the 360 and in Japan supporting the PS3. Why bother cutting yourself out of a successful market. I can gaurantee their will be millions of sales of FF13 on 360 and PS3 opposed to likely up to a million on Wii with Crystal Bearers! Why cut off a succesful money making branch?

I could come up with more reasons but I think I've made my point. For at least another decade I doubt that FF mainstream titles will appear on Nintendo's main platform. If they do appear on Nintendo's next platform it is highly doubtful that they will appear as exclusives on that platform or any other Nintendo platform.

Mushroom Kingdom Hearts!!!!! WOOO!

Pretty much this LOL!

I really don't care if the main FF series is never a Nintendo exclusive again, but I'd be overjoyed if we got a collaboration between Square and Nintendo that yielded something similar to the original Super Mario RPG.

Off Topic:  I've said it before and I'll say it again... I just love clicking on threads and seeing that the OP got banned... makes me chuckle every time lol!

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

It could Happen, just like some time ago FF VII went to the PS1. Maybe FF XV,XVI or XXXIII will go to future Nintendo Console

very doubtful until nintendo makes a console with similiar hardware specs as its competitors. Then they will get a port much like the xbox 360 is getting.

Nintendo should make its own jrpg which could rival FF. They got the talent and a big load of money to support it with. That way they won't have to care about square-enix that much.

Shouldn't it go, "Square Enix should make it's own RPG which could rival Pokemon" seeing as how Pokemon is a much bigger franchise and the next FF doesn't have a chance in hell of outselling Diamond/Pearl/Platinum?

The point you're missing is that Nintendo does not need to pay for exclusives... were the games on Nintendo's consoles only Nintendo, the console would still get good sales and a bunch of the best games of the generation and be profitable (NGC is an example).... that's because Nintendo is just the best developper out there.

Now as far as RPGs go, it's true they lack a bit... but they have great titles Mario&Luigi, Earthbound, Paper Mario, Fire Emblem. This won't satisfy an RPG fanatic, but it'll satisfy players that like a varied experience.... It's hard to find a genre that is not covered by Nintendo and with a high quality game at that.

Well. if square-enix were asked to trade FF in for pokémon, then they might even do it.

My point was that having their own big franchise (fire emblem comes to mind but isn't big - rather niche) saves a lot troubles for Nintendo in their home market and in a lesser extent world market. Sony and Microsoft have to please SE with a lot love and extra's to get their FF. Something like dragon quest or FF are pretty vital to claim the marketleder rol.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Final Fantasy XV will be a Wii exclusive.

^ I would slap my Mama if that were for real.
