im sorry but halo 1s levels were very repetative. Good at the time but not groundbreaking anymore. Halo 2 had the best campaign as far as EPICNESS and music and action.

Halo 1 was very good, but I found halo 2 was likely the most epic in scale when it came to the campaign. The fact that the war became so close to home was pretty intense. Halo 2 > All in campaign.
Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?
Halo one was just an Epic experience hands down. And playing 8 player over a system link was probably some of the best multiplayer fun I've ever had cause it was with only people I knew well, in my own house.
Halo 2 got alot of playtime from me because it's online was done so well, but I still preffered 1.
After trying out Halo 3 a few times I decided there wasn't any good reason to buy a 360 seein as I had already bought a PS3

Halo 1 had best SP & Halo 3 has best MP.
In many ways Halo has been about a journey from a primarily great SP FPS to a primarily great MP FPS.
As I personally prefer the SP element of a FPS to the MP this has lead to Halo becoming on minimal interest to me.
Given the huge success of this move though, and the fact that there is undeniably a huge market for the MP element of a FPS, I'm not expecting either of the upcoming Halo titles to change my views much.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
CE's levels do feel bigger - a lot of that is the outside epicness of it, and the constant inside/outside switching - also the vertical nature of the levels. That whole part up high on the bridges over the canyons, for example.
I will say, though, that H3 is way more fun to play through repeatedly, as the A.I. is WAY better and the enemies will behave differently in many situations.

The verticle nature is exactly what I was thinking about as well. The levels just have more size to them.
Nostalgia. Wonderful, horrible nostalgia . . .
Sorry, folks, but Halo's single player campaign is the WORST of the 3. It had great moments for BACK THEN, but as soon as you start having to replay levels backwards and hit The Library, the repetition goes into overdrive. The two sequels alleviated those problems (mostly) and each added more weapons, equipment, enemy tactics, cooperative play and vehicles to add much needed VARIETY to the game.
Now which had the best story is debatable (in many ways, I enjoyed the expanded perspective of the second game), but for pure gameplay elements and fun the first game truly lies at the bottom of a very impressive list.
Then again, I try to keep my nostalgia goggles in their proper place . . .

Hold up there chief, let's not get crazy.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia. Thanks WordsofWisdom!
Halo 2 had a bigger improvement from Halo 1 than Halo 3 had from Halo 2 (in terms of gameplay, excluding graphics.)

what are you talking about its one of the games i go back and play because i love the single player. the way the AI handled, and the flying banshee battles, and i enjoyed playing the levels backwards with the flood changing them, man that was fun scrambling for wepons storing then and going back to grab more seeing if you could sneak a ghost here, or what happend if you stole a banshee here and went where you were not supposed to.
the battles were better and more fun, the enviroment was vast and epic. and priomo story line, and the climax out of the three i liked CE the most,
halo 3 had a chance but made it too easy, and halo 2 always left me with the impression the campain was shortened
3 really pissed me off with the arbitor being a tack on, and if you killed him you couldnt take his sword if you started as him you wouldnt have a sowrd or cloaking, why even include his ass, ... oh you introduced him in 2 fine but they should have made him more useful ..... i would have prefered more generic npc or when multiplaying more spartans.
and while we are here the brutes though some what fun at first were never as dificult and enemy as the elites on the hardest setting in ce the invisible elites when you got beamed up to the ship, man that was the last level i got hardest setting done on, all the others were considerably easier,
im not saying CE dose nto have its faults, but they are fewer and far between vs 2 and especially 3 story mode
I suppose next you will tell me that super mario brothers 3 is not better then SMG?
driver 1 was not better then 2 or 3 (ill give you parrallel lines is better )
or testdrive 6 (ps) vs test drive(ps2/xbox)
I still own and play my back catalog (with the exception of the ps/n64 library and that haunts me, but i was young didnt have a job yet and it seemed like a good idea, and now i miss alot of those games .....though since i got a job i have only ever gotten rid of one game, and for the life of me i cant remember the name... and had one stolen nfl 2k3 )
edit and hey, we should clearly throw away all that greek sculpture as the roman copies are better anyway
edit edit sorry for seaming so harsh... this is one of few topics i go off on, i enjoy a large number of very old games better then their replacements and i understand its an opinion....
edit X3 i think im just really pissed because of the new transformer movies which everyone seems to like but i detest because the new movies are no where near the quality of the original one... better cast better script no freaking love story
