360 has outsold PS3 to date – but Wii and DS lead the way in vital territory

This generation of consoles has sold 24 million units in the UK to date – up 8.4 million in the last 12 months.

According to GfK-ChartTrack data for sales up to June 27th, 2009, DS enjoys the biggest installed base with 9.1 million, up 2.7 million from the same period a year before. In addition, 300,000 DSi consoles have been sold since launch.

Wii follows on 5.4 million – up 2.3 million on its installed base in June 2008.

Elsewhere, Xbox 360 enjoys a 3.9 million installed base – up 1.7 million in the last 12 months.

PS3 sits on 2.2 million – up 900,000 units from June last year.

PSP has sold 3.3 million consoles – a jump of 500,000 over the last 12 months.

Can any one tell me what 360 sold in Uk before PS3 actually released there ?


It weird how Uk differs so greatly from the rest of Europe.

360 entry model is £130... and advertised LOTS, even more than the Wii.

PS3 entry level is ~£300... and not advertised at all.

Hardly surprising
