Forums - Sales - UK GfK Chart-Track Hardware Installed Bases through June 27

Those numbers sounds so wrong, come on the X360>DS+DSi or x2 Wii?

Around the Network

Oh wow. 360 outselling Wii + PS3 combined in the UK. Never would have thought that to be possible.

Manuelf - I wonder if the NDS numbers are just DSL, or include DSi as well.

As others have said, there are probably rounding errors, but having the X360 > Wii in the UK is huge.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

It all really makes sense.. the 360 is nearly the same price as the DS in the UK, it all comes down to price, and it seems its really having an affect on 360 sales. As for the Wii, that I cant give an explanation for other than lack of software.

The Nintendo DS leads the hardware market by a significant margin, as it now stands with 9.1 million units sold in the region, up 2.7 million from 6.4 million in 2008.

Since launch in April 2009, the DSi has sold 300,000 units in the UK, 92,000 of which were sold in its first weekend.

Sony's PlayStation Portable has sold a total of 3.3 million units in the UK, up 1.1 million from the 2.2 million recorded in June 2008.

UK installed base of consoles by June 27, 2009:

  • Wii – 5.4m
  • Xbox 360 – 3.9m
  • PSP – 3.3m

Some similarities and the end numbers are the same. I wonder if they took the information fromthe Game report or from Gfk.

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

So another nugget

"Since launch in April 2009, the DSi has sold 300,000 units in the UK, 92,000 of which were sold in its first weekend."

92k not that many pre orders then. This all comes down to whether we believe GfK.

If I may say so

having Ps3 = Wii in UK is greater than xbox 360 over wii

kowen - VGC is based on obtaining the best available data. GFK is the best, so I am sure the numbers will change.

your boss reckons they are "wrong"......

but without any explanation......

Well Gamesindustry seem to have similar numbers and have provided additional information that was not in the original Game report which points to them using the GfK numbers rather than an outright error by Game. Still a possibility I guess.
