Forums - Sales - Xbox 360 is outselling the PS3 more than 2 to 1 worldwide

Gazz, regarding aligned launches comparisons, try to align launches for each territory instead of total sales, and you'll see that it's not quite that simple. It's more like a coincidence actually.

PS3 has the advantage of selling in all territories, while the 360 doesn't sell in Japan. In the Western world, the PS3 isn't tracking the 360's sales:

@Gazz
How many consoles are sold lends itself directly towards which console receives the most third party support and which consoles price drops faster due to economies of scale. Its not unfair to talk in terms of current sales while disregarding the different launch dates, its a fact of life.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

360 will outsell PS3 2:1 until the new year. Even if there is a new PS3 coming out, it is unlikely that there will be enough supplied to meet demand.

As for next week... The big question I have is whether the 360 can do 2:1 sales on the Wii. The PS3 will be easy to get 3:1 but it would be really nice to see 2:1 on the Wii even if it would only be one week.

I just wanted to point out that the PS3 isn't doing so badly from a launch perspective, especially with the competition already in high gear.

I completely don't see why the fact that the 360 isn't selling in Japan is unfair to MS, if you use that logic I might as well disregard the American data on the PS3 to make my point. Fact is that MS poured a lot of money and resources into marketing the 360 in Japan, and failed with their strategy and lack of games for that market.

I only see the PS3 doing just badly in the states, and sales in the rest of the world aren't as bad as I thought they would be. Looking at all the doom posts I read everywhere I thought they hardly sold any there. Fun to see how much effect the 360 fanboy posts can have, they must have enough time on their hands if their console gives them three red lights again (just a joke).

More autoconviction posts by xbox fanboys.Yes ,the 360 could multiply the PS3 sales the week of the release of their most hyped and bigger game ....and the last exclusive high profile game they have (excepting Mass Effect ) left.That doesnt mean too much.The PS3 will reduce its price for christmas (or before ) and multiply its sales in all the three big regions ....even if the 360 could maintain the lead in NA the WW data would still be favorable to the PS3.

Current Japan HD-console sales account for about 7% of total sales, so whatever the ratio is there it's not affecting the "war" in a big way. The US account for about 60% of current HD console sales and the PS3 is getting outsold almost 4 to 1 in that territory. So, the PS3 isn't doing so great, I'd say.

I think its pretty clear that '07 is the year of the XBOX 360 in terms of HD consoles. I'm not convinced about '08. The only way XBOX can beat PS3 in '08 is with MGS4 and FF13, and they know it.

Hmm... if Sony drops the price again Microsoft is kinda stuck this holiday season. They (xbox) will still out sell a $400 PS3, but not by a huge amount. Microsft cannot drop their price, because they need a profitable 4th quarter to WOW shareholders. If Sony does drop the price, Xbox's best move is to stay the course, and then drop the xbox 360 price by $100 in the spring.

Why is that? Because of those 2 games? You are in for a surprise. The funnest thing about all these wait till next year posts is, its a horrible situation for Sony. Its a simple equation that sony fans like to ignore. More consoles sold allows for more games to be developed. The new games bring in new customers. Then there is word of mouth. "What my friends play" As sony allows the 360 to become even more market saturated MS is going to reap the benefits. When a majority of gamers come to purchase there next HD console, one of the 3 big factors is what are my friends playing? Can I play with them online??? Xbox has the big lead here.

 The 'other' one isn't fair, as it tracks the release of the PS3 in some area that isn't Europe/Australia for the first  16 or so weeks.  Thus it isn't a true aligned launch.  The PS3 is selling better (thusfar) from an aligned launch perspective everywhere but the US.
