Sony have done a tremendous job of improving the graphical quality of original PS3 titles compared to whats been available over the 2nd comings. Why this has taken longer on 360 is anyones guess. Maybe due to the fact that developers saw it easier to continue developing the same way as PC games were done? Who knows. But one things for sure we are seeing a massive leap recently in visuals on the M$ platform.
In particular Forza is a great comparison. It's not so much an upgrade but rather it's an overhaul.
Here is Forza 2:

Now heres Forza 3:

Splinter Cell Double Agent

Splinter Cell Conviction:

As you can see what our white box can do if developers put some elbow grease in. We know Forza 2 was an enhanced verion of Forza 1 engine. But still. With other titles like alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction and Mass Effect 2 looking considerably better than anything else the 360 has done so far it's great to know not only will our gameplay improve, but visuals will continue to improve greatly. Capcom recently were quoted as saying they are surprised how deep the 360 architecture actually is. They thought Lost Planet 1 was maxxing 360, then they thought Resident Evil 5 was maxxing it. Now they are saying they have gone even further by some way with Lost Planet 2. Theres many tricks under it's hood. And we the gamers will benefit from this. In some way, we have Sony to thank. Because they really have put effort into providing great visuals. So it's about time M$ woke up and started to get the best form the 360 to.
Peace people.
