if natal will be bundled with every xbox 360 arcade from its launch and MS will be selling stand alone Natal camera bundled with Natal-centric games it will be as popular as Halo 3 or even more - it won't have huge opening, but it will be selling decent number of copies years after its release.
| Keep_the_change said: Ok, lets have a saleswise discussion about this gen 360's motion tracking camera, and last gen PS2 motion tracking camera. The NATAL and EYE TOY.
I tried to do some research, but I couldn't find any Eye Toy total data regarding all the amount of camera's out there on the PS2. But I estimate it to be around ~12 million. So, a relatively cheap camera on the last gen dominant platform, managed to get about 9,5% attach rate. IF NATAL manages to get the same attach rate as EYE TOY did, with *let's be generous* 360's total lifetime data being half of the PS2, which means 62 million, NATAL would sell 5,8 Million units.
So my question is: Can a camera released for a second placed console, get an attach rate as high as the camera for the last gen dominant platform and get into its levels or even surpass it? EXTRA question: Shall we call it a success with lifetime sales around 6 million units due to the small userbase of the 360 compared with the PS2?

Everything depends on the implementation of Natal. IF, and I do mean if, the tech delivers as promised, I think M$ will see an incredible attach rate and adoption by gamers, both hardcore and casual. If on the other hand, this is nothing more than an eye toy...pardon the pun, then yes...it will see a low attach rate. Given the comments made by M$ management, it would seem to be the case that the Natal device has far greater capabilities than a camera, so it will depend on those first apps delivering a killer tag. Many have already speculation on some really integrated methods to employ the camera, so the perception of some that this will be only for casual gamers is a bit false.
They're going to be bundling it starting next year, so unless you don't think the 360 will sell another 10.5 million systems from that point on... and that doesn't even consider standalone purchases for current owners.

On the one hand, it's a lot more advanced, but on the other hand, it's on a far smaller userbase and is more expensive.
I'm going to say no. But it's up in the air right now. It will probably outsell the PS Eye, though.

I read somewhere, and I can't find the frigging link, that M$ might skip the 45nm chips and hop straight to 32nm chips, delivering on some serious cost/performance benefits...seems like this might be a way to delvier far more tech for the same amount of money...maybe even a little less than today.
I'll just buy the Natal alone... I know there in NA 360 is considered cheap, but, i so no reason to buy another console every new 360 upgrade or even if it's realesed a Slim version... I'll buy another just when my 3 years warranty finish.
And beeing realistic Natal can do pretty well, but not enough to have 3rd party full support. 3rd party could do games with extras for Natal users, but never something made thinking on Natal especifically. Natal is just a way MS found to make their console dure some more 3 or 4 years in the market, it's better realese motion control as ADD-ON than make a Wii move and realese near the same console just because of motion controls.
Highly doubt it, everyone knows the Eyetoy for the ps3 is getting more software then Natal
