Everyone is a strong word.

Traditional RPG's (JRPG) are a dying genre and I would be willing to bet next generation we will barely see any.

Traditional RPG's are doing just fine and new IP's are coming out that are very interesting. JRPG's will be having a hard time until FFXIII comes out and people start buying more PS3's. Once people buy more PS3's JRPG's will start having some legs.

i hate rpg's.

Maybe cause they are too lazy to read a book?

Maybe because they are good games?

They arent boring and repetitive like FPS games?

Some have great stories and memorable characters?

Take your pick. Why, what would you like us to talk about?

Oh yeah, there is no repetition in RPGs for 60+ hours. They always have the same story, some kid who wants to be an adventurer and ends up saving the world. I enjoy WRPGs, but I feel like I've played everything the JRPG genre has to offer already.

And you don't think WRPG's repeat just as much with being a space marine/ knight out to save the kingdom/galactic whatever?

Alpha Protocolis definitely a new step, but it's not like WRPG's don't have their own settings they usually end up in.

Don't forget the post nuclear war setting. Either way its a lot more fresh than what we've been getting from JRPGs since the Genesis and SNES.

Edit: Kamal also brings a point to me. JRPGs have tons and tons of reading. WRPG are more focused on free roaming and game play.

Don't forget the new WRPG That pits you in modern times as a secret agent in Alpha Protocol.

He had +20.000 posts and like 80% of his posts are about JRPG's. If he was not on this site you probably wouldn't have made this thread.

^No.

Because they're an exquistely hardcore genre, plus a very popular one on consoles.

Are you surprised that a video game website with charts and numbers attracts people who like RPG's??

This is what i was thinking. I figure this site attracts more intellectual gamers, or at least more so than you'd expect on GameFAQs message boards, IGN message boards, etc. So as a result you get more of a fanbase that enjoys a more intellectual gameplay expirience, or at least something that isn't as reaction-based as an FPS, not that we dont enjoy those either.

Me - i love my RPGs but not for storyline or character development - i honestly just like seeing my character get stronger as i progress through the game, which i feel doesnt happen enough in most other games other than simply getting better at the game.

I think you summed it all up pretty well there buddy.

I do love good RPG experiences myself, and like many people here said, it's mostly for the stories that they are remembered. Also, when the experience is intensified with beautiful and interesting music, it's seriously not hard to understand why some consider the genre to be one of the best out there. Interactive movies FTW! =P

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

Because no matter who u are there's a little something in there for everybody. Its like this Most ppl here who have played Eternal Sonata say they hate it, but from a purely aesthetic and gameplay point of view. I'm enjoying it because i like the aesthetics an the attention to classical works of chopan and his life story(i actually learned something.

To some it up in my view they are different and sometimes creative, and since when has a change of pace been bad?
