lol STAGE. Don't feed the troll guys.

A JRPG should hit 2 mil on Wii already? The best selling JRPG this gen is LO, but a crappy DQ on rails spinoff is close to it in sales! What a funny guy. Not like the PS3 and 360 are big JRPG supporters either. DQ X is going to crush FF XIII in sales. Besides, the Wii has MH3, Tales, etc. to move core owners.

@Blood

Like MH3? Oh wait. Edit: Also, Daz, you're my hero. Baten Kaitos FTW!! I want BK3 NOW!

FFXIII is guaranteed to have over 2 million in sales for sure. After FFXIII launches more JRPG fans will buy PS3's and you will see more third party devs making JRPG's for the PS3 after the fallout.

FFXIII will sell, yes, but I doubt it'll do that much for bringing momentum to PS3.  It's still going to be buried either way by DQX in Japan, though.

It will sell systems in Japan since 360 only owners in Japan will have no access to FFXIII.

You don't imagine how much I expect that announcement...

But honestly, if it isn't BK, it's other. Monolith showed us they can do anything by now. I just that... Nintendo give them the budget and let them do it!

You know what's the only thing related with Monolith I would prefer to BK3? A new Chrono made by them (of course, with SE). That would simply... don't know...

Anyway... looking forward to the big project they have in hands!

Ohhh... and don't feed pointless discussions. Any cheap project RPG will sell bad on the Wii, while ay dozens millions dollar project RPG on X360/PS3 will sell well. I don't even bother discussing... I'm too much into Arc Rise Fantasia to waste my time on that. It's AWESOME!!

Of course, not all RPGs on Wii sell badly.  Tales of Symphonia 2 did good, as did Dragon Quest Swords.  So there IS a market for RPGs on the Wii, but only if a major IP sells first.  Thankfully, that's gonna change with Monster Hunter 3, for, while not a true RPG, it'll still be a best-seller and introduce new core fans to the Wii.

All that Wii developers have to do is step up their courage to put a major IP RPG on the system, advertise it heavily (which they're doing with MH3), and THEN they'll have a hit.  It's that simple.

You can point and bitch at the RPG not selling on Wii but they are new low budget IP.

Lost Odyssey and White Knight Chronicle had huge budget and marketing. So far no RPG on Wii has matched that. So I say Wii RPG sales are definitely not great but just there. Hell DotNW sold more on Wii then ToV on 360 which had higher budget and was mothership.

The only major true RPG coming to Wii so far is Dragon Quest X and that is a long way off. I wont count Monster Hunter because its not and RPG and lol if you think Muramasa,Fragile, and Arc Rise Fantasia would sell on PS360 then lol. And again only ARF is an RPG out of those.

We're not talking a huge difference, it's 0.32 million (ToV) versus 0.37 million (ToS2).

If anything that reflects poorly on ToS2 as it had a 1+ million fanbase from the original game to tap into while Vesperia was basically a new IP within the Tales franchise.

Ohhh come on!! Are you kiding me?? One is a main Tales of title... the other a low budget spin off made by kids recently arrived from university... Everybody knows that. A new IP... I never thought hearing this, honestly...

Any low budget/small project on the Wii bombs... any multi million RPG on PS360 does well... niche games only exists on PS360...

We learn a lot of things in this forum!!

You're assuming a whole lot things right here and really exagerrating a bit.

He isn't saying that.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

The fact is that neither Tales did badly at all. Anyway, I'm very sad that this thread has completely derailed. I would rather focus on the topic at hand which is what RPGs are coming next and the ones which have a chance of succeeding.

Personally, I think MH3, FFCB, DQX, and ToG all will sell very well in Japan, while Valhalla may have a hard time finding its audience. I have no comment about Monado, but how that turns out remains to be seen, since it's a long way off.
