Umm... What? So, M$ is after the casual market Wii has, and Sonys controller, that is similar to Nintendos, is better suited for core games.

Good. Finally some analysist who actually said that Wii Remote is suitable for core games. The guy just had to go indirect route, but still.

If Natal ever comes out, M$ will have a lot work to do to get the current console owners satisfied with it, if it's anything like what was seen.

I'm with ya on this one. It's funny how many PS3 fanboys would say back in the day that the Wii-Mote ain't good for their "hardcore" games yet suddenly Sony's Wiimote-Ripped Off version is!

in part i agree,

in another part - sony's motion contoller is mostly like the wii-mote with motion plus so complaints about the original wii-mote are a bit misdirected in this case.

@kitler: In the interview (which I can't find at the moment ) only the traditional controller was mentioned, so I'd guess it would generally be limited to head-tracking and voice commands unless they come out with some hypothetical Xmote.

In the event that they do include a controller, I'd agree cost might be an issue, though but probably no more so than in the case of Sony's PSeye + 2-4 controllers. Frankly, I'm pretty pessimistic about any of this new motion control stuff gaining enough adopters to be viable unless they bundle the living hell out of it (cheaply). It just feels too much like they're trying to change horses in midstream.

Yeah, I remember back in the day when all of those Xbox fanboys were really supportive of the Wii-Mote and prayed that MS would give them some motion control.  :>

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Someone should correct me if i'm wrong but hasn't the core audience stated over and over again over the past couple of year that they have ZERO interest in motion control in their core games - Dual Analogue is the epitome of game controlling and more precise than god?... etc...

No. Only the fanboys that have a problem with Wii.

actually the only problem with the wii i had was the graphics and the lack of games that appeal to ME.... now that sony will have motion controlls i will not need the wii... and im pretty exited about that :) (cause i was on the border for a loooooong time about buying it)

But were you complaining about the controller.

i was....? i may have forgoten.... plz qoute me....im not saying ure wrong.... im syaing i got bad memmory....

@Ant: I can't remember what you have complained about earlier. In your post, i quoted, you mentioned problem being graphics and non-appealing games, not controls (and you actually show interest into them).

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I think that NKAJ is right in the certain genres such as FPSs (the engineers during the Sony conference even made the same point clearly by pointing out you need buttons for things such as triggers) NATAL won't work, and you won't be able to see games like the Conduit and COD.

However there is always the option of combining the regular controller and motion control (but then it goes against what Microsoft and Xbots were saying, after all the nose raising and saying *rich person accent* "Buttons? Buttons are simply a burden!")

I'm sure there are things/genres/gameplays only possible on NATAL, but I do agree that "core" games and genres, are better on the Wii/PSmote than NATAL. Even RTSs I say will be better with a mote.

A RTS should NEVER be on consoles plain and simple. Motion control or not.

The Halo francise is the most overrated bland game to ever hit the console market. It provides a bad name to all FPS that even showed effort at creating an original entertaining plot.

I probably have more ps3 games than you :/

Hey I remember that interview.  They were talking 'enhancement' of existing controller with Natal.  So say in an FPS you could lean slightly to the right or left while sitting on your couch, and your character would lean in the game, allowing you to peak around corners, etc. (something I  consider standard in an FPS from PC and still find annoyingly missing on consoles).

I guess taking all the MS messages so far what they're really saying is:

a) Natal will have games that only use it as the interface

b) the existing controller will remain in place for many exisiting genres but if sensible they'll try and integrate some Natal use

So I guess its already clear, headline catching hype aside, that Natal isn't actually going to replace the existing controller anytime soon.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

It will be, some people do not have good body cordnations.

Is there a trailer or demo showing of playing with a sword and shield?

I would totally LOVE that in a game.

Anyone else notice that the character's hand isn't at the same angle as the presenter's? heh
