Well, everyone can screw up sometimes

Btw, if reviewers may sit on inferior Wii's there's a problem.

They're not inferior, they're actually superior (allowing to take screenshots of games and probably more things).

Reading the blog again, it seems they just had to update the firmware manually (since the firmware update in the game is for the normal Wiis).

My mistake, I've read the blog now

I hope this doesn't happen to often though.

sorry i should have put "didnt play it that much".

but still the fact that they made, and then had to correct, a mistake is how....look, i didnt trust eruogamer even before this. maybe it was a simple error with WM+ and they did actually play the game. but the fact that they botched a review and had to correct it makes me distrust them even more. i dont know about you but when a reviewer has to "fix" a review, that tells me they didnt even try the first time.

Clearly you have no clue at all what caused the initial lower score for GST. I would suggest you do at least the bare minimum reading before putting a completely uninformed opinion out there. It will save everyone a lot of time and energy in pointing out how you have no clue what you are talking about. I will attach the relevant information from the explanation for the re-review to help you figure out what is actually going on.

"This morning we received a tip-off from our colleagues at Eurogamer.de that they had encountered substantial differences in Wii MotionPlus performance on their Wii debug review kit and their retail Wii console. Obviously this set off alarm bells - Kristan Reed had reviewed Grand Slam Tennis on a Wii debug kit."

"For the record, the mistake - 'catastrophe' is probably a good word, actually - was down to out-of-date firmware on our Wii debug machine, which neither our EA contacts or us apparently knew anything about. This meant that Wii MotionPlus only worked to a diminished degree during our review process. We had received the game and WMP accessory direct from EA, and reviewed GST in good faith."

The short version is that they encountered an unknown bug, and simply never had a chance to realize it. The second it was brought up they did everything necessary to fix it. This is what you call good journalism.

They had the integrity to admit their mistake and correct it. Good for them.

All you people flaming them, using the internet logic that people who make mistakes are idiots, don't know what the hell integrity is.

Anyone anywhere admitting a mistake makes me respect them a bit more.

Good call, sir. Exactly.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

This is just painful to read.

Eurogamer admitted to their mistake and explained how it happened. For me, that kind of behavior is builds trust; it doesn't break it.

That's true... eventhough i believe they are not the smartest reviwers out there... at least they had the decency to admit they were wrong. That's a plus

still though, the fact that they are the only ones that didnt know to do this makes me suspicious. i have yet to hear of any other problem like this from another reviewer. i have stated that i dont trust eruogamer. the fact that they fixed thier mistake, while admirable, still tells me that they didnt take everything into account when reviewing this game.

though you are correct, i didnt read the article posted by NJ5 at first(i only read the first one), it in no way changes my opinion.

He's right, Eurogamer LIED to make GST LOOK WORSE THEN IT IS.

Or something? I dunno, wp Eurogamer tempted to buy this Tennis game tbh as Virtua Tennis is trash nowadays.

How do you know anyone else actually knew to do this? Again, this was an unknown bug. EA never mentioned it and they sent out the review copies. Why on earth would they need to take into accoutn an unknown bug while reviewing a game? You are just trying to bash Eurogamer because you dislike them for whatever reasons you have. While thats fine for you, there is no point in spreading uninformed and baseless accusations against a reputable magazine for doing the right thing.

It was not an unknown bug, it was out of date firmware.  A problem only eurogamer and eurogamer.de had aparently.
