Forums - Sony Discussion - Capcom on PS3 Monster Hunter: "Never Say Never"

Many Playstation 3 fans were upset when Capcom announced that Monster Hunter 3 became a Nintendo Wii exclusive game in 2007. However, that doesn’t mean that Capcom is closing the door completely on the popular RPG series on the Playstation 3.

Shawn Baxter, the Community Specialist for Capcom, recently posted the following response when asked of the possibility of Monster Hunter appearing on the Playstation 3:

“Right now we’re not working on one. But, who knows what the future holds. As you’ve seen in the news, we never say ‘never’ here at Capcom.”

Capcom is known for porting their games from one system to another no matter how absurd it was to do so (Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop on the Nintendo Wii, for example). So a Monster Hunter 3 port to the Playstation 3 isn’t completely out of the question. Nor is a completely new game due the success of the series on Playstation platforms.

Doubt this but if they make for ps3 also then best choice would be to put on 360 aswell.

Is it that good.

I'm not sure that the PS3 base in Japan is bigger than the Monster Hunter fanbase in Japan. Gotta have at least 6 or 7 million PS3s in Japan for this to be likely. I don't know that PS3 is going to get there by 2011. DS2/PSP2 should be on the horizon in 2011-2012 so thats where I would look for DQXI, FFXV, and MH4

No, We get the Monster Hunter series now! We will get Monster Hunter 4,5,6,7,8, etc. Muhahahaha. Just like how they stole Final Fantasy series from us.

Didn't they just say that for SFIV on Wii? lol.

I doubt it'll happen, just like SFIV on Wii won't happen (esp since we have TvC). The Wii'd already have the MH fanbase so switching'd make no sense. Like switching from PSP'd make no sense.

The Wii doesnt have the MH fanbase, the PSP does. The wii is getting it, just like ps3 can get it too.

Isn't this what they said about SFIV and Wii?

A PS3 MH, if it ever happened, would release after MH3. By then the MH fanbase would be on the Wii, so why switch?

That's like saying they can put MH on DS. I mean, it doesn't have the MH fanbase yet, but it'll get it right? Sorry, but that doesn't make any sense when your fanbase is on one system already.

If that were true, all MH games should be on the PSP then, MH has over 3 million fans, i doubt the wii will sell 1 million ltd, i can see a port selling 500k on the PS3, chances are most psp owners get Ps3 well.

All MHs are on PSP though. I'd expect them to make a MHF3 for PSP later to not cannibalize MH3 sales.

You doubt MH3 will sell 1 mil LTD? lol, you're going to be surprised when it blows past that.

The rest of your post is speculation. Plus, port a Wii game to PS3? lol.

well, it could sell more, but that wouldnt  stop a PS3 version if Capcom wanted to, but it wont happen, they took it away from the PS3 to begin with. I wish the game sucess, it looks really good.

Aren't Namco and S-E releasing respectively Tales of and Final Fantasy games for different systems?

Then again, I think the main reason that Capcom did chose the Wii over the PS3 for MHIII is because they already have MHIII PSP version in mind.
