Forums - Sony - So who is actually going to get MAG?

Killzone 2 mp was nothing original. It expanded on old ideas and changed things slightly just as all new shooters do. There is no such thing as true originality in shooters anymore.

You don't sound like neither one who's played it nor experienced it to the fullest.

Infact you sound like a troll.. because you're pretty wrong. I should know, i've played shooters for many many years and i've been playing kz2 for months.

I might get it - depends on how it reviews plus whether I feel it works/doesn't as a concept.

Anything new I'm automatically interested in but I try to approach them cautiously as sadly new ideals often fail to pan out into fully realised experiences.

If they game does turn out well, then I think it will find its audience, but the risk is it will fail to be cohesive (that's a lot of players to keep organized) and will therefore fail to engage as a rewarding experience.

But its got my attention.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Lol, someone trying to say I have limited experience with shooters?  That's a real treat.  And I played Killzone 2 multiplayer for at least a good 30 total hours when I had it.  Enough to play either every class and rank available.  Trust me, there was nothing original about it.  It had large maps and 32 players which has been done before, a class system very similar to Team Fortress, although I agree it did fit a lot better with Killzone 2, the basic controls were pretty standard CoD shooter controls, the gametypes were nothing that hadn't been done before (CTF, deathmatch, the one with arming and disarming bombs, capturing spawn points, etc).

I'm not trying to say it was a bad game. In fact I quite enjoyed it for the most part!  I'm just being honest when I say it didn't really do anything innovative, and that no shooter these days really does.  The formula works and each shooter only slightly adjusts that.

I can't remember a shooter that blends the gameplay types like killzone does. IE ther's no interlude or break between each gametype. Not even a respawn.

Furthermore the clan system.. well i've never seen a clan system built into a game like killzone 2's clan system.

It's a maybe for me right now. Definitely not a "must buy"- my "must buys" on PS3 this holiday season are Uncharted 2, R&CF: A Crack in Time, Modern Warfare 2 and BioShock 2, ALL of which have multiplayer. The highest game on my "maybe" list is Assassin's Creed 2, because it isn't similar to any of the must buys. Same with Brutal Legend, I suppose.

I won't buy it when it releases, but I might pick it up later.

^ What Im saying is that all the core elements are the same, it's little tweaks that make the difference

Call of Duty with United offensive had tanks .. and levels that worked with it.

Far superior level design to both cod 4 and 5. Better levels, properly used tanks that were integrated within the levels

Less glitches :p'

and Superior online lobby system.. and I don't really recall the game lagging often either.

oh and if i recall correctly more gamemodes.. or atleast as many..

again superior level design. Just wanna say this again cause the game really had great level design.

And cod 5 online is better than cod 4 because of the zombie mode :p it's the only mode i like in the new cod games online.

cod4 is a step back from the original. As was cod 2 and possibly 3 (i never played cod3 though. But noone liked it so :p)

The best part about cod 2 was the fact that you could arm up on potatoes and throw them at the enemy in the first level as the russians :p

My point is that they shouldn't limit themselves to the same old formula or cut back on it either.. why not do new things... especially good new things. .. like the zombie mode :p (needs more than 1 map though.. and i'm not buying 2 map packs when i'm only gonna be playing the zombie maps)

Well, we know it has snowmobiles and snow levels, let's see what else Infinity Ward improves on.

IW only made 1, 2 and 4. Treyarch made 3 and WaW by copying the previous game made by Infinity Ward and adding in some random stuff. World at War was CoD4 in WW2 with zombies, while Modern Warfare 2 will be an entirely new game.

I have never actually played CoD1 and 2, though, so I have nothing to compare to.

If review are good then ill 'eventually' pick it up. Having Socom & Warhawk is enough online-only game I need at the moment. The 200+ players is intriguing however.

It's either this or Bad Company 2 for me. I have no interest in MW2. I like big battles and open spaces, they give more room and emphasis on maneuvering than on just running through a hall, both you and the enemy being surprised in seeing each other, shoot each other, one dies, rinse and repeat.

Clan system built into Rainbow Six Black Arrow was immense with integrated tournament and clan match systems.

And the Warzone aspect where you shift between game types was something pretty original I guess.
