Nintendo never really stops supporting their popular franchises--they just don't see new entries 'as often'.

It's called Super Smash Bros. At least it's not cheesy cameos in other franchises games.

What's Smash Bros. got to do with anything?  In fact, pretty much every character in those games, both playable and Assist Trophy, have seen their own games quite recently.

Little Mac Assist Trophy?  New Punch Out!!

Saki Assist Trophy?  New Sin & Punishment.

Fire Emblem characters?  Shadow Dragon.

Starfy?  Can't go half an hour on TV without seeing an ad now for The Legendary Starfy.

Hell, you could argue that having Zero Suit Samus as a playable foreshadowed her being that way in Other M.

There are some exceptions, like Ice Climbers, but by and large, if a character that hasn't had a recent game makes a Smash Bros appearance, they're getting their own title soon.

I'm merely just saying that the Super Smash Bros. games are a place where characters can be found once Nintendo has started ignoring them. x.o I'm wondering where Starfox, Kid Icarus, Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B., Ice Climbers, Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong and F-Zero have been lately...despite there being 2 excite racing games on the Wii...I mean it's not a bad thing that they are in there, it's just that you don't really hear much from the characters now. So Nintendo makes sure to grant the fans a service by making them playable SSB. It works. I was beyond excited when Brawl came out and I could play as several characters I haven't played as since the N64 days and even some characters I've always wanted to play as.

Star Fox being ignored?  Really?  I suppose if you ignore the DS game and both Gamecube games...

F-Zero had a Gamecube game and several GBA games.

DK has had Donkey Konga, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games... and Diddy's been in some of those.

Game and Watch: Meh, no one really cares about him that much--his games were only popular because they were pretty much the most advanced handhelds at the time.  That said, there's been the Game & Watch collection for DS for Club Nintendo members.

Ice Climbers: I'll give you that one, like I already said.

ROB: He was also in Mario Kart DS, but you can't exactly ask them to make it so your NES peripheral work on your Wii, can ya?

Kid Icarus was heavily hinted to be in development for Wii before Factor Five went down.

They may not always be the exact game you want, but Nintendo keeps its characters in play.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I don't know how you think a million in sales each could possibly be seen as horrible sales. Especially on the GameCube considering its attach rate was so low. With the low sales of GameCube per capita Pikmin would be one of Nintendo's best selling franchises. No Pikmin is no Mario or Zelda but none the less it is one of Nintendo's bigger franchises.

We know based on the few facts availible that the new Pikmin is in the works by a smaller subdivision of EAD Tokyo. Nintendo probubly isn't dedicating the same amount of resources to Pikmin as they do other big franchises. This means a smaller team and smaller budget.

I think Nintendo will keep Pikmin around even if Pikmin 3 doesn't ship more then a million copies. Will it see two releases on the Wii like it did on GameCube? Probubly not but Pikmin is yet another of Miyamoto's brain children and as such won't get left out!

Plus I suspect Pikmin 3 will probubly reach 2-3 million copies sold. I'm sure thats why they re-released Pikmin to test the waters prior to releasing Pikmin3!

Back the fun bus the fuck up.

The Gamecube had a bad attach rate?

GCN software sales - 205.56 Million
GCN hardware sales - 21.74 Million

Attach Rate - 9.59 games/console, approx. 9 games

Nope. When they start doing poorly with console Pikmin games, it'll go the way of Kirby and become a handheld franchise.

I think The NPC games are really just a test for Nintendo to see how people like motion controllers. It may be to see how people like older games with the controls (to see if the consumer likes them more this way), to see how people play with the controls, or to see a new game could be done. Notice that the first games out were Donkey Kong and Pikmin rather then Mario and Zelda.

Hell no... Pikmin definitely has a bright future ahead of it.

For one thing, when the third game in the series comes out, it'll be as an established franchise on the console with the biggest install base this generation, not to mention the inclusion of motion controls and the Wii's pointer interface will put the gameplay leaps and bounds over the GC versions, which were at times clunky, especially when you were trying to manage dozens of pikmin at once and give them all different commands.

And secondly, Pikmin on the DS would be killer! I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't produced a version for the DS yet to be honest... that and a Smash Bros. game are two glaring gaps in the DS's library up to this point.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Pikmin 3 will probably determine the fate of the Pikmin series.

I don't think you have the authority to give +5 points.  Only the biggest Pikmin fan on VGChartz can do that.
