Hyped ? Infamous wasn't hyped at all, in fact, most people were surprised about the lack of Infamous hype before the game launched.

Well it sure seemed hyped to me.

Compared to any high quality exclusive games for any console, I think it received very little hype. Just think about Madworld, Killzone 2, The Conduit, LittleBigPlanet, Gears of War 2, Alan Wake etc... All those games received/are receiving a lot more hype than Infamous.

 

Over 200k sales first week is a very good number for a new IP that pretty much came out of nowhere.

Don't worry I'm sure it'll have good legs, this is a PS3 game after all and not every PS3 owner uses there PS3 for games, so that's why game sales are usually a little low. Also it wasn't hyped that much, it had decent marketing. But just look at all the other new IPs and there first week I'm sure InFamous will be the same and will probably sell close to 3 million:

I'm going to say no. Infamous had the Sony hype train and didn't pull off outstanding sales. Prototype is definitely the underdog and this doesn't appear to be a wildly popular genre.

What hype? This game had 0 ads in the uk and its a new IP.

Infamous's 1st week could be around 300K after counting japan

we need to really stop comparing 1st week sales of new IP's to those of Metal Ger's/COD's

You know as well as me that this game won't sell 20k in Japan. They really dislike games like this.
