Forums - Sales - Wii and 360 have already peaked in yearly sales

2009 and 2010 will both be better years for the Wii sales-wise than 2008 was. You can quote me on that because I'm 100% sure it's true.

PS3 - Heres the issue:

You say that 'oh, the PS3 will have it's peak year because it hasn't had a price drop, and has great games in 2010!' yet write of the Wii, despite it having the same MO as the PS3. Why?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

PS3 already had two major price drops...

Actually the price already dropped by 33% compared to the launch, more than any other console...

^ I just feel the Wii has started off well but its just falling away in Japan and America markets. PS3 needs the price cut and this could change things for PS3 which will take sales away from both 360 and Wii. Systems all priced at or below $300 price will no longer be an issue.

Analysts regard the PS3 at current prices of $399 to be close to saturation point due to slow PS3 sales. Price cut will increase PS3 sales by around 60% and Sony should sell close to its 13 million sales projections in 2009/ 2010 fiscal year. 2008/2009 PS3 sold around 10.1 million and forecasted for 10 million sales.

Look man. The PS3 is not going to win this generation. It's just not going to happen. Just enjoy your system and let it go.

*whispers* Let it go.

I assume Wii and 360 will remain unchanged in prices for 2009. PS3 however is most likely to cut prices in late 2009 to get it to outsell 360 and build momentum for 2010 mega hit PS3 game releases. PS3 has not had a price cut for almost 2 years and Sony is fighting a war directly with Microsoft in console wars. I believe Nintendo will sit back and watch Sony and MS fight it out. Wii may stay same price until 2010 or 2011 and only be slightly reduced due to Nintendo being shrewd business minded people focusing more on profits.

I acknowledge PS3 will not win the console wars and overtake the Wii. But the 360 can be chased down and second place is still obtainable for PS3.

PS3 should be able to outsell 360 in both 2009 and 2010 and beyond if the price cut does happen late 2009.

PS3 cuts prices in 2007. 360 remains unchanged.
360 cuts prices in 2008. PS3 remains unchanged.
PS3 cuts prices in 2009? 360 remains unchanged?

I'll wait to see the Wii's third quarter this year before making any predictions as to how it's likely to sell in the next 18 months or whether it has in fact already peaked Sure it's possible the Wii has seen it's best year, but given the amount the PS3 is down YOY i think it's more likely that it has already peaked.

do you really think a sony pricecut will go unchallenged by microsft? they will more than likely announce a pricecut themselves or a couple new new exclusives to compete with the sony pricecut. look, at this piont i higly doubt sony can comeback. like d21leeis said, just let it go.

also nintendo doesnt exactly fit the description of "shrewd business people focusing on profits".

Wii aint had a pricecut OR colours yet.
360 will peak this year.

PS3 will PROBABLY peak within the next 2 years, more than likely next, with the rumourd slim, pricecut and GT5.

I dont think Sony can cut the price fast enough to catch the 360.
