Thanks for posting the comparison numbers to illustrate your point.
I would like to interject a widely accepted phenomenon for Wii games though, that they sell slowly but typically have legs.
You picked some games that will have some serious legs, like Boom Blox, Endless Ocean, and Punch-Out, so I'll use those in my rebuttal.
Boom Blox looks to currently have sales of around 560,000. Endless Ocean has around 420,000. Does anyone doubt Punch-Out will sell 1.5-2 million in the next 2 years?
My point is that Nintendo platforms don't follow the typical pre-order rush that the 'HD' platforms do concerning sales. You won't find Halo 3 type sales number on the day of release for the Wii, but you can bet your bottom dollar that Mario Kart Wii will pass Halo 3 very soon in total sales, and it won't stop there.
If we're truly going to compare 1st week sales between the PS3 or X360 and the Wii, then we need to introduce a modifier or something to apply to the Wii games.
Thanks for the good discussion ;)
Hardware is only a means to enjoy great games!
