We aint seen a slim for PS3 yet, and we have no idea if MS wants to get a slim 360 out. Natal/Sony Motion could increase sales for one or the other. This gen is FAR from over. |
Sony will mostly do a price cut at the end of the year that will help it during the holidays. I honestly expect both systems to sell pretty close to even during the holidays if Sony's does their price cut and Microsoft doesn't retaliate. If both of them do a price cut M$ will definitely beat out Sony during the holidays. Neither will beat the Wii, but I think it might be a bit closer then the past 2 years.
I doubt Sony's motion sensor will make much of an impact if it's released this year, but we'll see. Microsoft Natal doesn't come out until Fall next year. Both Sony and Microsoft have some nice exclusives this fall, so I don't see that making a huge difference in sales, except maybe in Japan since FF XIII will be released there this year. GT 5 won't be out until next year I think and so will Halo: Reach (maybe Gear 3 too).
Right now the Xbox 360 is slowly pulling away and this is during the downtime where Sony usually has stronger sales. XBox 360 sales usually aren't good in the Summer. They do their best sales the last 4 months of the year. The PS3 is close mainly because of the nice exclusive it has released over the last 3 months. Some good games were released in Japan as well, which gave the PS3 a nice surge over the Wii for a few weeks in Japan. Halo ODST will move a lot of XBox 360 in Sept though.
