Forums - Sales - Did Punch-Out!! disappoint?

It should crawl to a million + worldwide. I did expect more, but it is the type of game that could sell to 2-3% of new Wii purchasers for a year or two after the first month in addition to slowly filtering through the existing base.

By the end of the March 2010 fiscal year only a little over 1% of all Wii owners will have had to buy the game for it to hit 1m.

After seeing UFC numbers weeks ago i thought this was expected. After seeing EA Fit's numbers i knew PO would be affected. Still legs etc.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I also think the consideration that Bionic C was like PO, both old revivals that many had forgot about, was another issue here.

Overall though, i think when UFC drops off PO will remain steadier for longer.

This game will have long legs. I don't know that it will make a million but sales will defiantly be good.

Nah, when you take a long time to release a new game in this boxing series, you'd expect it to crawl slowly to a million.

I am disappointed in its "others" sales. I do seem to see it getting more exposure in stores (anecdotal evidence ftw...) so might be a sign of legs or even picking up steam. But up until now, really low numbers in others.

Americas like it way more and the numbers are fine for such a game.

Elaine: I will never understand people

Jerry: They're the worst.

It will sell over time. i didn't get it until last Friday

In Others a bit, tough it did IMO pretty damn good in the US... lets hope for decent legs, tough even if it sells only 800k lt it would still be acceptable for a semi-niche title like this... lets be honest even tough its a boxing game, the strange artstyle and character design might turn some off :|

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

I bet the sales of punch out disappointed a lot of ninty fans. I remember some people prediction a lot bigger sales.

I'm with TheSource. This game will do well from the trickle down effect. As people go out looking for new games, this will be one they pick up
