Forums - Nintendo - Only cheaters left on Mario Kart DS?

This is my first thread so please be nice.

So I've been playing online Mario Kart DS now for just over a year.......not all in one sitting obviously. Since Halo 3 came out it's really hard to get connected to anyone. When I do get connected there's usually a cheater and I have to disconnect. I mean it's really not fun to race around being zapped by a lightning bolt constantly (and I mean constantly). It's also not fun to race against people who have infinite stars or mushroom boosts. I've had 2 hackers this evening and 1 yesterday. Tonight I have only completed 2 out of 6 tournaments due to hackers and disconnectors. I guess it gives some 10 year olds kids some fun for a few minutes. I guess I'll just have to keep a list of cheaters and disconnect on them before the race starts.

Have all Mario Kart fans defected to Halo 3?

Oh well. Win some lose some.

I lost Mario Kart DS last winter...perhaps that's a good thing after all?

No...because I generally only played with my friends in person...and that was a lot of fun.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Welcome to the wonderful world of online gaming.

If they recorded drops as a loss...

Then again, who competes online?

Moral: Play with friends.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

I've dropped out early enough from random online tournaments to secure my 200 - 24 record.

How about using friends codes to make sure you only play against non cheaters?

I have no friends ......at least in the Mario Kart world. Nearly all of my losses are now coming from pulling the plug on hackers. I don't mind accumulating losses if it denies them a win and annoys them for a minute.

I have mario kart, and the cheaters tend to be the japanese.

Hmm, I didn't know cheating was that bad in Mario Kart. I haven't encountered any cheaters in that game but I haven't played many random online matches. The only time I've encountered a cheater on a DS game was once in Tetris. The guy did something to make himself get only line pieces and the funny thing was that I almost beat him. :-p

Cheat back?

I have a love/hate relationship with online games. Love the interaction, hate the people I'm interacting with. Double edge sword I suppose. You're hard pressed to find any successful online game that doesn't get a least a few hackers here and there, if not completely plagued by hackers. I hear Metroid Prime Hunters is just as bad. Nothing but cheaters.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

I lost my copy Summer 2006. Then I took my friend's copy because he doesn't play it anymore. The first time I played online, I got OWNED by a Japanese player with a Triple Star rank.

Just don't play the early DS Wi-Fi games online because they are full of hackers.
